Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

daft as it sounds either answer is going to be awkward for me.
PTSD is a real problem for people in remission, everybody thinks you should be feeling relieved and on top of the world, but that's not always the case. "if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee." can for some people be prophetic

Anyone ever thought of suicide. I think about it every day and more so recently. I just worry about the hurt it'll do to family

I genuinely cannot be arsed no more. And I know how selfish that sounds

Life bores me and I know I've made a mess of mine .

Every day mate. Not constantly, but the thought is there at some point during my day. Feelings of suicide, depression, hopelessness, etc. aren't permanent, these feelings come and go. Think back to the last time you felt really bad, and realise that the mood never lasted, the 'clouds' eventually lifted. They will lift this time also.

Give yourself a fighting chance. Cut out alcohol, go for a walk maybe every other day (walking can help combat depression). Take the meds you've been prescribed, keep in touch with your Doctor and keep him/her informed of how you are feeling; because your meds may need to be tweaked or changed over a period of time until they get it right. Remember the meds are slow working and will take a few weeks to start doing their job.

Good luck mate, and I apologise if I have come across a bit preachy, I don't mean to.

Very good post mate, thank you - hope you continue your battles mate, and come out the other side stronger and happier!

By helping others, I'm sure it helps you too?

No mate, L4 has not logged on since Friday
Don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing ?

Worried about the lad, is there not a mod-way of getting his email or anything, like...

Just throwing this (very intrusive) idea your way...

If the fella is getting the help he needs, this can only be a good thing. Wasn't it Friday he was seeking help? Him not logging onto the forum since then is a positive step. Sure we'll hear an update in the near future.

We havnt really got much data on anyone mate. And if we contacted some one in the real world, after a lad posted on an here, there might be issues of privacy that we would have betrayed maybe? We have discussed it, but feel there is little more we can do, other than offer the support of fellow Blues.

There may be duty of care issues here, but I wouldn't really argue the point personally. We do say it's anonymous here & that entices people to open up. It's a fine line we tread if we start going deeper, and I really don't think that's our right.

It's difficult to navigate this kind of situation... but the implications of 'stepping in', if that were possible for the mods to do so, might discourage any further free-flowing support and discussion that this thread has enjoyed so far.

I hope that this guy knows that all these countless, fellow blues are concerned for him.

I've mentioned my anxiety issues on here in the past, but not for a few months.

Last week I had one of the most horrendous days I've ever had. The very next day I ended up going for my first round of golf since I was 15 (10 odd years ago) thanks to a mate's off the cuff idea. Its worth noting that im dreadful.

Turned out to be the most beneficial 3 hours I've spent in the past year. Being outside, regardless of the drizzle, regardless of my awful shots, on a mountainous links course with spectacular views, absolutely brilliant.

I've been using exercise as medicine for a while but that was special. Now got a lesson booked with a pro and not even arsed about the cost, looks like it might be just what I needed.

Well in mate. Made my day that, definitely keep at it and you might win a round soon enough. ;)

Had a few lessons with a pro myself and it was great, you learn a lot quickly.

Well in mate, I think the fact that whilst you were doing something that you enjoy, in beautiful surroundings has obviously pushed the feelings of anxiety to the back of your mind and for all intents and purposes you forgot about them . There's no magic cure and if golf is the key to getting better, go for it !

Well, hi again. Long time no write (about me at least).

Things have been going decent recently - I've been back in Bulgaria since Monday, beer here is great and cheap, my dad's here and I'm up and down with him driving (he's a distributor) along the Black Sea's coast, feeling somewhat relaxed/relieved. Gonna meet some friends next week as well when I'm back at my hometown, probably make a little viewing party for the Everton games on the weekend (which are on TV here!).

Then, today, while just having a pint at a cafe/bar, a song on the radio that I thought there was a 0% chance of hearing here reminded me of a special someone. And I know how stupid and cliched this sounds, but I genuinely mean it - she was my everything, but I was... stupid. And realised both of those too late. Genuinely regret losing her, and we're still in contact and everything and chat every so often, but I know she's not interested and that hurts me a lot (but I do understand it) and I also know there's plenty of fish in the sea, but I feel like she was my sea, rather than a fish in it. Cliche central, I know.

I genuinely miss her and that makes me feel like absolute [Poor language removed], because I know it's not and it shouldn't be a mutual feeling.

I know it's stupid and I'm young and all that, for which I'm sorry, but I just needed someone to share this with; get it off my chest, in a way. I'm just reminded a lot here of a certain time when I was also a younger, careless and happy chap with a pretty girl just going around places doing naff all... Time gone that I'll never get back I suppose...

FFS.

Off to sleep now, busy workday tomorrow in the heat... Sorry about this again.

Hope everyone is doing great :)

**the "her" in here is not the now-ex I broke up with a few pages back, if people remember that.
