Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

Hello wbn61. Sorry, I had to bail out yesterday and so have only just read your post.
From your post I deduce your major problems are fatigue and lack of motivation.
The knock on effects include lack of concentration, loss of appetite, lack of energy, inability to accept change, little desire to look after oneself, general disinterest and apathy in most things, an alarming lack of consistency and constancy and continuity, and to always feel knackered due to a poor and un-refreshing sleep pattern. All disturbing and debilitating.
However, and I am no doctor, but it sounds like you have all the classic symptoms associated with a condition known as Fibromyalgia.
This condition has all the classic symptoms of Glandular Fever, but without the swollen glands, and was first recognised some years ago as ME and was commonly called Yuppie Flu.
However, Fibromyalgia is the big nasty brother of ME as it not been caused by illness. Instesd it has developed due to one being constantly run down and depressed and so can be difficult to diagnose. But once detected, NOT impossible to treat
This condition saps confidence and energy and induces a depressive condition. Plus it also has the extra burden of pains. Constant and spasmodic, and these pains attack joints rather than muscle. These pains can range from spasmodic to constant, and from twinges to severe. Symptoms can also include dizziness and nausea.
But it can be countered by anti-depressants and pain killers and motion sickness tablets. Plus, the omission from your diet, whenever possible, the avoidance of white wine, and foods with MSG (monosodium glutamate), and above all, sugar-free drinks which contain Aspartame.( Please excuse my spelling for a lot of the terms I have used, as I have spelt them the way they are pronounced).
To be honest, the removal from the diet of EVERYBODY of these killer food additives is recommended, but especially those with depressive conditions.
I apologies for the lateness of my reply and also the length of it and trust I have not come across as some know-it-all.
Above all, I hope it helps.
Thanks for the reply. I have terminal cancer so all the things I moan about are from my condition.
your comments show the kind of person you are, willing to help others whilst suffering yourself and that is what this thread is all about.
Hope you are ok today.

Oh Good Lord, I had no idea.
I am sorry for my waffling and hope it did not offend.

No worries I am not offended. Carry on "waffling" it's what I do when I feel the need to purge my head of all the mess that gets me down at times. thanks again for trying to help a fellow sufferer.
Hope we aren't all suffering come 5 o'clock lol.

Took to taking cocaine to try and rid myself of my problems. Obviously after the first few bumps it doesn't work.

Nothing ever seems to work.

Matey cocaine is a downer as such. Yearh youl get a little buzz until it We'res of then youl want more etc and it's a cycle. It will make you really depressed mate paranoid amongst other things.

Deffo mate if you can try and avoid things that are depressive it will make you feel worse. I know you don't wanna hear that right now but it's true.

If you wish to talk buddy then I'm a good listener ;)

You don't need anyone to be all high and mighty about that mate, have you spoken to a GP? Even if you have try talking it out. I've found just opening up usually gets them out of pushing you out of the door ;)

Without being " all about me", that first bit about Fibro does sound like my problem. Mad that

I do not believe "all about me" in your reply is in any way written in a selfish way.
But as you clearly suffer, I do believe that this time it should actually be about you.
If any of the screed I wrote is of any help in any shape or form, then i will be delighted for you, and trust they can go some way in returning some well earned respite and stability into your life.
I genuinely wish you a better quality of life, as Lord knows, you deserve it.
That statement, without wishing to detract from your own personal problems, goes for anybody else who could benefit.

Thanks.

I know it's bad and self destructive.
I see my counsellor on Tuesday, so I'll go through it with her.

Things just all seem to be piling up at the moment.

How are we all doing today? I can see we've got a few new posters but some regular ones too. I hope we're all able to give as much support as possible.

This forum has provided me with a lot of solace. It's a cracking place to be.

I've only been dipping in lately, but I'd like to contribute a little more and I'm eager to get to know people a little more.

All the best everyone.

Thanks.

Do keep talking, gud bud, because at times such as these, even the smallest problem becomes an obstacle to overcome.
Talk I know seems easy, but as everybody who uses this site knows very well, it is not.
But the main thing is, you are talking, and, there are many sincere people on this site who will empathise with you and can lend a good ear.
They also give well meant and wise advice.
