I think there is a broad acceptance we aren't very good. Granted, that means we won't get surprise good results often.

But for me, the biggest issue is our results are broadly very predictable.

On balance, I think we'll raise our game and win today. Maybe 60% chance. That's what we do.

On the other hand, I had pretty near 100% certainty we would not/could not win on Monday. A draw maybe, but never a win. That's what we do too.

I was the same, said as much on here - but then I call out players for lacking belief and wonder if it's a little hypercritical.

Liverpool in the cup this season.

For the first time in yonks, I thought we’d do them.

The perfect example of Everton letting you down that game.

No way should our players have lacked any belief in that match.

I don't bottle out of tackles, or do last minute punts up to the smallest player on the pitch, or check back every time I get an opportunity to cross a ball.

I do however pay loads of money to watch and support the team come rain or shine, whatever n0bhead is on the touchline or whichever cba mercenaries play for us despite a lifetime of disappointment.

I genuinely didn't, because of our midfield.

Not so sure mate.

We have several first team players (Bernard, Gomes, Keane) who have spoke of panic attacks or experienced bouts of depression and spoke of them being afraid to leave their homes etc due to various pressures.

I think this is a little naive.

I linked Everton managers saying they felt the home crowd was having a negative experience on players - and players themselves have spoke of how online comment impacts them.
Really? Which Everton players have said or written that about online comment?

Agreed, but the players are the professionals, and well-paid, and all that.

It is kind of their job to rise to the challenge, even very occasionally. That is surely the essence of competitive sport.

As fans, we react to the fact that our players can never do that, seemingly ever, in big games, away games, and big away games, at least.

Sure I seen a stat on the last game that said we haven’t come from behind, not sure wether it was at half time or all game, since 2015?

Certainly at Goodison I’ve seen the fans heads go after going behind in a game, the longer it goes on the restless everyone becomes, it just seems like the overall mentality for me.
If we are losing at half time, we never win. Said it for years but was surprised to see the stat pop up lol

How the hell are we supposed to be optimistic? We were banned from Europe in 85 when the ban is over and after years of being rubbish we finally finish 4th and the governing body of European football hatch a plan with Collina to keep us out. Now for the first time in a generation we are in a position we could go out and spend massive money but guess what that's not allowed these days or we'll be banned from Europe.
Just as we are in a position or potentially in a position to progress we are given a swift kick in the balls.
No other club has been as unlucky through no fault of their own as Everton, Defending champions at the start of both world wars league abandoned, banned from Europe because of RS thuggery, clearly have a draw and game fixed against us so there wouldn't be 5 English teams in the champions league.
How us it possible to be optimistic?

Chicken and egg situation - too many players with no spine, too many false dawns, too little to celebrate or value for far too long. Equally some including myself use all this as a reason to prematurely judge and whine even in the early stages of trying to fix it.

Think it needs just SOMETHING to happen to get behind, whether that be a crappy Carabao win or a push for Europe. Its hard to unite a fanabse when you've got an ever increasing amount of them who've gone a lifetime with blind support and nothing to come from it

The difference in mindset between Everton and Liverpool supporters is startling and that is not something recent.
True. Without joking they are spoil brats and support them because they want that instant gratification. They were the playground snotty nosed kid who mummy fussed over, like thingy off Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. When that transcends to footy they scream and kick when things go against them and it helps to get them what they want. I don't want to be like that of course, but at the same time I don't want us to be the sulker in the corner. We want to be the one kicking the s.hit out of the bellends.
