Do we really have £100 million to spend?

Correct me if I'm wrong but no one inside the club has come out and said we have a hundred million to spend?

If not why get hung up on a random figure? I do believe we have a substantial kitty and we are waiting for the right players. How we have managed to buy out the contracts of Koeman and Walsh point to this.

Have some faith lads, we had 12 years of Kenwright so the mosh deserves at least 2 before we get the pitch forks out of the cupboard.

He's ok. Will he be that much better than Robles though? If so I wonder why he was languishing in the Championship or out on loan as a number two.

Sommers or Timo Horn or some other boss Bundesliga keeper we should be getting.

He hasnt played a game in the Championship David.

He spent the bulk of his career at Ajax, then moved to Roma, then Fulham, where he played in the Premiership and then off on loan to Monaco, then Southampton and finally to us.

With financial fair play, how much can we realistically spend this year without selling first? It's been said before by @The Esk that we can't just blow £100m like that as our wage bill would go up more than is allowed.

We can blow £100 million, in fact we could theoretically blow about £300 million before we had to worry about the profitability and sustainability regulations. However we have to be concerned about the Short term cost control regulations which limit our ability to pay much higher wages - hence the observation some time ago, that if we were to spend £100 million we'd have to sell Stones in order to generate player trading profit to cover the increase in wages.

On the wider point do we have £100 million to spend then the answer is undoubtedly yes.

I covered in this post here how Blue Heaven Holdings can easily fund up to £400-500 million as required.

I'll stress again, a man who has made a fortune privately and without public scrutiny does not make a very public investment and then screw the company he has bought or bring it to his knees. It just won't happen.

I think dave's spot on about the goalkeeper situation to be honest. When you've lost your number one keeper of the last decade surely the first thing you do is get a replacement.

Yeah, I do think we have it.

What I don't think we have is a profile to bag elite players or the ridiculous wages to even tempt them.

Kinda stuck in the middle.

He did play in a World Cup final. Maybe he's a cup specialist like Martinez. lol

Was loaned as Fulham couldn't afford to pay his wages Dave

The difference is that only one of Moshiri and Green has an enviable reputation. When you don't have a reputation to protect you can do what you like. In Moshiri's case I'd imagine having maintained his reputation for nearly 40 years he's not going to ruin it by acting improperly or screwing a high profile but relatively minor (for him) investment in a football club.
