Look at them at a similar age. Not right now.

Kane was only just getting good-ish now at DCL's age and had 3/4 very poor loan spells previous.

DCL has not had the loan experience due to us not buying a striker when Rom left.

I'm not sure why people aren't getting this. It's not hard.

It's as if any young player with fairly decent potential should be tipped to possibly go on and emulate someone like Kane though, just because Kane took a while to get going. Kane is an absolutely top class player, and if he took a while to show his true quality like you say (I know nothing of his time before he broke through properly at Spurs), then he is a one off.

Calvert Lewin is not going to be a top level player. 99% of the time you can see when a player has that kind of talent, and he simply doesn't have it. He has poor composure in front of goal, he isn't that great at heading for his height, his first touch is average to poor, he doesn't score enough...

As I said though, he has good potential to be a useful player for us coming off the bench. But he needs to start improving his glaring weaknesses if he is to make it here, and for me he has a fair few.

You simply cannot know that.

IT'S NOT A COMPARISON WITH KANE IT'S THE PRINCIPLE THAT A PLAYER CAN BE A LATE BLOOMER AND DEVELOP INTO A GOOD PLAYER AFTER THE AGE OF 21.

I think thats what he's saying anyway.

Fair enough.

However, @ijjysmith said it's not impossible that he won't reach near Kane levels, and I disagree with that. It's not impossible in the same way that it's not impossible for Everton to finish in the top 3 this season, but it's not going to happen.

Calvert Lewin will get no where near the level that Harry Kane has got to (in my opinion of course).

I think the key to this is that players can develop later, but they don't do it at big clubs. Kane went on loan to lower leagues to prove himself. Drogba, who was quoted elsewhere, developed at small clubs, then went to Marseille and got his big move to Chelsea when he was 28. Big clubs don't play "work in progress" players, they loan them out or even sell them with a buy-back clause. We need to buy a top class striker, and then Silva has to either loan out DCL or sell Tosun and/or Niasse and use him more. Personally I think he needs to play 30+ games for a Championship side and score 10-12 goals before you could consider him worthy of a squad place.
