2020/21 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Well Godfrey and holgate have played more premier league games than konsa and Ming's, so id say both sets of CBS are pretty inexperienced.

Where have I said I expect Dom to do everything? Do I expect him to do more than win a header from a corner in the whole game though? Yes.

This thread will be like this for years, with us arguing for and against Dom but it honestly baffles me how after watching him recently people think he's doing enough.

In regards to the top European clubs, people are saying he would be of interest to them all, which is just so fabricated.

What I mean about people banging in goals each season, I didn't specially mean one player is doing it every year, I meant more so different average players are getting a good return in goals, like DCL has 15 which is decent but even people like Patrick bamford have 14, is he of interest to all major clubs? If not, why not?

Didn't Charlie Austin get like 20 league goals a couple of years ago with qpr?

I go on about DCL a lot in here, but people don't seem to understand my beef with it, it's not I'm saying he's absolutely terrible, I just don't agree he's as good as people make out, if he gets 15-20 constantly for the next few season then fair enough I might change my mind on him, I just don't see it, his all round game isn't good enough ( for me ) to suggest he's capable of getting 20 a season constantly.

Konsa and Ming's have been a partnership all season, 6th best defence in the league. Holgate and Godfrey have been a CB partnership in about 4 games.

Key point on Dom being right now though.

He has faults yes. But if he keeps progressing year on year, we don't need to buy a striker.

And yes, you do get the odd Bamfords and Austin's as they're usual new to the league and of an unknown quality. Dom got 10 last season. He's not a seasoned pro, he's 24 (Bamfords 28, Austin the same when he bagged)

we do need another striker for resilience and options. Dom is doing just fine but we wont win anything with one decent striker

He’d be on their bench after 2 games so I doubt it.
Not sure that stands up at all mate

Put him in that city team next season and think how many goals he’d get from inside the box. Be mad.

Point is with those elite sides is that, bar maybe one or two players, they don’t have guaranteed starters. If they sign Haaland, for example, then he won’t start every match

I just don’t see him fitting in either of those sides. Both can afford to buy him if they want him though, so we’ll see.

Thing is they don't play with a proper striker so he would have to adapt majorly, look at them this season they have one player in double figures for goal scoring in the league and it's a midfielder.

We've Richy and hopefully bring Simms into the frame. We need goal scoring midfield/attackers ala Mane-types to prove threat.
Richy hasn't worked that well this season and Simms has to be treated as another promising youngster who likely wont make it to first team level. Successful teams wouldn't rely on those two. I do agree that midfield needs to improve the goals return and energy levels.

Sorry eggs but I couldnt disagree more, think you are seriously over hyping a very average player. Manchester city will not even remotely be thinking of DCL, and IF they are he wouldn't last a season, he's nowhere near good enough.

Ill say, if in 2/3 years time he's still our number 9 well still be trophyless and no closer to breaking into the top 6
Will they not?? You know the recruitment staff well at city do you ?

you talk nonsense

stats don’t lie

It depends on what type of stats you are referring to, the normal ones that just record events during the game or the predictive xg and xa stuff which goes into the realm of theoretical physics with huge equations, they can be manipulated to suit a particular argument. As for the City stuff, given that they don't play with a striker and that a midfielder is their only play in the league in double figures id be surprised if they went for someone like DCL tbh.

Knowing that clubs normally have 1st 2nd and 3rd choice on a wish list I’d be surprised if he wasn’t on that list..

1st choice probably not but ....

If a bid comes in at £80m then we should sell all day long. Whether you rate him or not surely everyone agrees that would be a great deal for Everton.

Personlly I see DCL as an impact sub, bring him on the last 20 mins of the game for something different or when we play a 442.

I don't have to know the staff at city to know they won't be interested in DCL, only an utter fool would think otherwise.

I could see United maybe in a year or two if he scores the same amount next season but not city.

Well I think City, for example, can afford to play a striker whose only job is to get on the end of crosses into the six-yard box. Yeah, he can link up well in the final third too, but they don’t need him to be an outball.

I don’t think they’d be in for him, but he’d fit in in their squad, I’m certain of it

They currently don’t play with a striker as Aguero is crocked and off, and Jesus isn’t a natural poacher.

they play certain ways for certain games.

City won't be interested in him because generally speaking he doesn't suit their style if play. However if he ended up there he would score plenty of goals. Its just City don't currently play to his strengths so it won't happen. He would score goals in any team he plays United are most likely to try and buy him as his suits them better than it does any of the top teams.
