I think DCL is mentally checked out and trying to just gradually build fitness for next season with one eye on a move and the World Cup squad if he starts next season well.

However, I don’t think it’s the same as him not wanting to score it’s just we aren’t giving him the chances and he isn’t willing/has been told not to chase and press like he used to. To be fair, Ancelotti seemed to drill him into a box striker and told him to stop drifting out wide etc

No words.

Of course not. But you can't expect your strikers to be clinical with one half chance created for them. Only elite strikers can do that.
But then you just go full circle back to the argument that a striker who is only dangerous when high quality crosses are put into the box may actually cause just as many problems as he solves. It also doesn't do anything to refute the point that 90% of 'good' crosses are only deemed good because someone got on the end of them. There's the 10% (maybe less to be honest) where a ball is put in to such a good area that you say someone really had to get on the end of that, but the overwhelming majority of crosses are just balls put into a vaguely dangerous area; if a striker has made a good run and got away from his man to nod it into the net it goes down as a good cross, if the striker is stood on his heels behind the centre half who clears it then it doesn't. I remember Gray putting one in in the first half against Newcastle (not when DCL was on) which was not a bad ball at all in it's own right, but when you saw that there was absolutely nobody in the box at the time he did it you realise it was a pretty stupid thing to do.

I'd be dropping him in place of Rondizzle tonight. The tone deafness of trying to promote his fashion career when he hasn't scored a goal for 7 months is incredible.

Mad isn't it. He seems to think we are whipping in several high quality balls every game and DCL is missing sitters. He's had one half chance created for him in his last 8 appearances.

Tbh if he was missing sitters it would be a better indication that he has the slightest inkling of poacher’s instinct than whatever he’s doing currently where he doesn’t even bother making a run or attacking a corner.

I’ve never understood the urge for him to be a penalty box striker when he’s so tall, athletic, fast and with great pace and hold skills. He should be an all round striker really, so that would mean making his own chances too. He’s got the capability I believe.

He's such a strange striker of the ball for a centre forward. Doesn't seem natural, unless it's a close range one touch finish.

The one thing I don't see enough of from our strikers are runs into the six yard box a bit like lineker used to do. People always pointed out that he was always in the right place at the right time but that was because he did that same run a dozen times a match. Lewin hasn't got the skill to go round a man a bit like lineker but lineker was clinical and always making runs, for me this should be the first area of his game to improve.

He probably would benefit from the right manager to finish him over say two seasons. Managers don’t last two seasons at Everton so I suspect he will move on in summer. We may need the money to keep FFP happy.

Aye probably right. And I've made peace with it. Wouldn't be arsed to see any of them go tbh.

SELL.
