2021/22 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The lad had a few month purple patch last year. Other than that, he’s been absolutely garbage and is a 1-in-4 striker…

A worse ratio than Chris Wood.
He has improved year on year until this year when he got injured.

Throwing in his record when he was a teenager playing out wide isn't really a proper representation of his ability either.

He looks absolutely shot right now though. He is obviously still struggling with something.

I was listening to the Radio Merseyside phone in last night and half the Everton callers and most of the texts into the show were related to him. There's an absolute fury building toward Calvert-Lewin. Many are using the word 'disrespectful' to describe his effort at this period of crisis for the club.

Lampard really needs to do himself, his team and us a big favour by benching this feller for the rest of the season.

I think there is more to it than him not trying, he doesn't strike as the type of lad that just wouldn't try, especially for a premier league club and a manager who you would expect him to get on with like Lampard. Southgate also spoke very highly of his attitude when he was with England, and think what you like about Southgate, he doesn't suffer any fools.

I think his injury has done a number on him and he is struggling physically with it, apparently he had ice packs on his thigh when he came off vs United - and he barely broke a sweat. Clearly has further issues with his thigh

But you're right in terms of he needs taking out of the team.

It may well be physical for the most part, but there's little incidents on the pitch where he's clearly not involved - like the goal on Saturday and him being nowhere near the celebrants. His attitude looks well short too.

I think it's related to his own thoughts regarding his own issues rather than anything towards the club. But regardless, as we've mentioned, he shouldn't really be starting games at the moment.

I reckon his thought processes are that if we dont stay up he'll be snapped up for a knock down price by another PL team.

I think you are right. However, I think it’s a mental thing at the minute. I think he does have one eye on a move in the summer and doesn’t want to get injured and is worried about going at full speed.

He also seemed to be hobbling up the tunnel to me on the Yerry Mina footage but that might just be me looking for some sign that isn’t really there. It could be uneven ground haha

I noticed the tunnel, he was carrying his shoe and sock to

I for one would like to say that it's clear the criticism is getting to him, and it's obviously not helping.
Shudder to think people are calling for Rondon to play ahead of him. Which is, you know, actually a logical shout given the quality of his performances this last handful of games.

It's been put to him to get his form back on track again, the least we could do is support him to do so.

I think the criticism has only ramped up since he did the interview with GQ in which it referred to a move to Arsenal and his agent had come out before with a very weak dismissal of him wanting to leave.

All in all, I think that he carries himself like a top top player but his performances are way below that and so we are in our rights to criticise

Yes plus hopefully all of us our moaning and joking on here and not on more Public sites where he can see it.

Correlation does not mean causation

I think a lot of people have had an anti-DCL agenda for a long time and unfortunately (for them) had to keep a lid on it for the last year or so whilst he was playing well and scoring goals. It was always likely that the hate would spew out at the first opportunity.
Or they had a different opinion? I've never been a fan. When he started scoring, I was made up and hoped that he'd prove me wrong long term. But I still don't rate him. He's so limited. Put him through 1 on 1 100x and I wouldn't trust him to score even once. I thought he was limited before he decided to walk around uninterested.

I certainly don't have hate for him. I just don't think he's that good.
