2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I do wonder why football players seem to go off with the slightest of knocks whilst other sports have players playing with broken ankles or torn pecs.

This isn't a shot at Dom but it does really perplex me.

What other sports?
It could also be the club are trying to protect their multi million pound asset. He may have been under instruction to flag the bench if he felt any strain, and based on what Dyche said, he probably was.

What other sports are those, mate? I don't know of any that would play with these.

Dom's current problem is a specific one that's very hard to overcome - the hamstring. It's a muscle that the only recipe to get it back to 100% is rest. It's a terrible injury. Guys can play through knocks, like a bruise to the quad or shoulder pain. But for something like a groin or hammy, it's a tough injury to play through when you're not 100%.

NFL. Ray Lewis tore his pec and played in the Super Bowl. Mahomes probably needs surgery on his ankle. NHL. I mean just about everyone in the NHL is playing with something broken
If he tore his quad or hamstring he wouldn't, pec is of course possible. How much does mobility in the ankle matter in ice hockey? they seem very strapped up there, almost splint like boots? don't know myself on that. Pretty sure though, if his injury made him a far worse player he'd not have been playing. Both those sports, plenty of padding involved too that would protect certain areas. For Dom's injury it is a muscle involved in literally everything a footballer does... he's not crying off sick ffs....was having a great game the other day and we went ahead, what reason would he have for leaving the pitch unless told to.

He's broken. It's not his fault. It happens to players.

But not having an adequate back up is responsible as much as anything.

For the last year he's been dropped in and out after that serious injury. And he's never recovered and might never recover, because his body is simply constantly compensating.

That injury he got in August 2021, and then aggravated when Benitez rushed him back to training, was really, really bad. The treatment of him since has been daft.

It just all builds up and unfortunately he is now unreliable. But the club knew that as of August 1st last year, when he suffered another long-term injury.

Just another piece of poor management from those in charge. Surely no one is going to put money into the club with these clowns in charge.
