2019-2021 he was excellent. To get 29 league goals in 2 seasons, without pens, in this team is some going.

He was just coming into his prime as a striker. But injuries have taken their toll.

But let's not kid ourselves, if we got that striker, who scores 13-16 a season for the final part of this season back, it would make an enormous difference.

He did take pens? And it wasn’t this team, he had a lot of creative players around him. And it also was during lockdown football in front of no fans so counts for very little.

Then he'll be in for a game and out for 4 weeks.

Forget about him. I bet Dyche doesn't plan around his appearances.
His entire system is pretty much depending on him

We'll see, maybe it's them being overly cautious. The point Dyche made yesterday was they might have to give him extra time to ensure he comes back and stays back. But it's just all hit and hope at this stage.

This isn't on Dom. It's on the useless people in charge of running the club.

Take it with a pinch of salt, but I've been told that he didn't start yesterday more as a precaution and they were genuinely hoping he'd be ready for Saturday.

Yet, as you said, it's not a fresh injury, but rather there's a concern that he hasn't fully recovered from a previous one.
Yeah I'm hoping it's wrong mate, let's see, We'll find out more in a few days.

Nor did he play a part in buying McNeil, which goes to show how dysfunctional our backroom procedures are. This contributed to the lack of a striker.
Not sure on that McNeil thing at all actually. Because I have it on good authority he was the one who made the proposal.

Both manager and DoF have had to sign off on any player we have bought in the last year, and no recruitment was meddled with in the summer.

Whether those deals were all negotiated by Thelwell is up for debate.

He's at least partly culpable, though, for plenty of poor stuff too.

His willingness to play is what has done him in I reckon.

We brought him back into the team way too soon when his injuries started.

Nah. Hamstrings, toe, shoulder, knee arent reoccurring injuries or ones that that have been rushed back on. He's falling to bits on the back of being physical that I don't think he can cope with.

He's crocked.

It was explained to me that McNeil was not the first choice (well, not the second either) and the deal to bring him in was dealt with by someone rather than Thelwell.

It may have been signed off by him and Lampard, but it was pushed and finalised at board level.

Kenwright negotiated it I believe.

But no, he wasn't a top choice. The top choice was MGW.

Again, it's not spotting players that's an issue, it's getting deals over the line.

But that's a processes thing, of course.
