Ulterior motive to the flak he gets? What's the ulterior motive to the rest of your examples? Digne? Gordon? Tony?

Football is a cross-section of society and those issues exist in society and all football.

Every single footballer is entitled to have a pop at fans. Every one. At every club.

No matter who they are or who they play for - they've taken stick from their fans at some point.

Whether they should, and the timing of which is another matter.
I'm not talking about other players - I'm talking about Dom. He's been racially abused, and abused because of his style of clothing or whatever else.

Do I believe those prejudices have some impact on how some fans treat him? Yes. I suspect Tony was targetted because of that or why would he face racist abuse.

Since 18/19, Coleman has missed 347 days of football - 62 games. Dom has missed 371 days of football - 59 games - in the same period. Much difference there?

I expect Seamus to be booed if he's at Goodison on Saturday, aye? So we can say there isn't an ulterior motive, but comparing those figures I'm not sure.

Oh, and Seamus has had more periods of absence too over the same period.

Seamus Coleman you say?

Here you go chief.

"I've been getting a bit of stick,' Coleman said. 'I'm the first to criticise myself and the last couple of games I've not been where I want to be. As footballers, we all get stick, so it's not like I'm having a go back at the fans.

Has he been openly booed off? I'll leave that one with you.

And I'll leave this with you.

I don't have an issue with what he said though. The media will get a story out of it but I dont really mind. The scoreline is what matters, not post match interviews

His team mates earned most of that win yesterday. Didnt really need to make it about him and a game one month ago. If it rankled him mention it on..i dunno. Evertons youtube channel.

But that’s not the point though is it Danny. Yes it's came from having a pop at the fans, however this really boils down to how Dom has been treated when here.

Can you honestly say that you believe Seamus has received the same level of abuse as Dom for his injuries? I'm talking on here, Twitter, at the game or the pub.

Can you honestly say that he's received the same level of flak in general? So it leaves me to wonder why. If a player isn't performing, then there has been criticism.

I'm guilty of that myself, and yes it can become frustrating. But is prejudice okay? Is the behaviour of our fan base okay? And that's my real, wider worry.

Personally, I think there's a mentality of turning a blind eye or a head in the sand because if the numerous incidents were at another club, we'd be pelting them.

The undefendable needs to be dealt with, and my view won't change on that. There are thousands of great blues, but we're measured as a collective.

Dom wouldn't have had to make those comments if the needless abuse hadn't come in the first place.

I think at Villa we were poor & when DCL got rightly called off with a fractured cheek bone - Our travelling fans thought it was a reoccurrence of his old injuries - hence he unjustly got booed off for the wrong reasons - but should fans boo any of our players off if injured - it was a frustrating day we got a good hammering -

DCL was just getting a dig in after the game yesterday ...

I've been vocal that criticism is well OTT to Michael Keane and Neal Maupay in particular.

Do I think Michael Keane would have been right to call fans out after his last minute worldie Vs Spurs? No.

I'm across fan sentiment across every digital platform and have a season ticket so go to a few games and I don't think criticism towards Calvert-Lewin is disproportionate.

Some of it is suspect towards his fashion - but I see a lot more of that from rival fans taking the piss.

Phil, there's no way the stick DCL got was racial.

Imo he's had the stick bent right back for him by Everton supporters who have been willing him to find fitness and form again.

I just don't buy the prejudice angle on this.

I think it was just pure frustration in the moment that unfortunately boiled over, IMO. Kneejerk fan reaction from fans at the end of their tether. I'm not excusing it but looking to explain it.

So he made it a bit about himself when the other players got most of it done.
Fair enough. Lets hope it dropped now as these things never go well.
