It's a tough one for sure.

Surely if he goes for 25m and Onana goes for 40m + that's enough to keep running things over the summer and potentially then you keep Branthwaite for another season.

I think that's how Dyche will be looking at it. Fourth best defence in the league so keep that unit and that's the best chance of staying up as they've proven they can keep clean sheets against many of the bottom half and that's a sustainable base to win the games that need to be won.

If this club suddenly has to start winning loads of games 3-2 or 4-3 next season that's how it gets relegated as the firepower simply won't be there. However 6 or 7 wins by a one nil is achievable although needs another goalscoring midfielder/wide player in the squad.
Yeah it’s tricky, one one hand I think it would probably be easier to bed in a new big centre half alongside Tarkowski than it would to replicate DCL’s all round contribution when he’s at his best.

BUT on the other hand, if we could maintain that Pickford-Tarkowski-Branthwaite triangle for one more season it’s so solid and makes us so hard to beat that it would be a great base for another solid season.

Maybe Branthwaite needs / wants to go anyway but certainly if nothing else getting the book profit for DCL early would let us hold out later in the window for the sort of astronomical sum he should be going for.

DCL + Doucoure = 14 league goals
Beto = 3 league goals in 939mins.

For context Maupay scored 6 league goals.

I dont think 14 goals is insurmountable.

Not sure anyone has mentioned "gambling on Chermiti".

If we flip this around a bit (alot!) say we sold DCL for £25mil in cash + his wages off the books.

Im pretty sure we could offer a club the total £25mil + wage amount to most clubs as a fee. Then bring in a far superior player than DCL for 1 season.

Who would choose DCL in that situation?

No one.
better than DCL for 25m makes me laugh
name 1

I suspect the club got an awful lot more match time out of DCL than they were expecting this season. With hindsight people ask why get both Beto and Chermiti when other positions could’ve been strengthened, answer is probably that they were expected to be 1st and 2nd choice for much of the season due to DCL’s prognosis.

I guess then that DCL having a better than expected season of fitness presents a “nice” problem, in that it’s given us more options up front and has increased his value from close to zero 12 months ago.

The dilemma then is what to do now, and if the feeling is that the way he has to manage his fitness isn’t sustainable for 3-4 years maybe it is best to take the “bonus” 25m for him now rather than commit to a contract, even if he would sign.
I'd certainly be sorry to see him go if only because in our current financial how much of any fee we got could be spent on a replacement.
I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be able to spend the lot and we all know there's toss all anything decent out there unless we're planning to keep the re-born Maupay.

Nar man, there's nada in the media.

A story here and there, but nothing like the volume you would expect.

Trust me blud, I am fluent in media.

Currently there's not enough to suggest he's leaving.
There’s nothing on a new deal for him either though, which you’d expect. We’re not going to let him run his contract down.
Too much makes sense on this

I'm not saying there nothing in the rumours. Just that currently I don't expect him to leave.

That can change in a matter of seconds.

No decent source has suggested he's moving, yet.
