Yes fair enough.

FBref (a stats website) have a section where they compare to similar players.

For 2022/23-Watkins is seen as 6th most likely DCL and Solanke 3rd. In 2023/4 Solanke was seen as the most similar striker to Dom.

So look, people who are paid a lot of money to do this stuff objectively hold that view.
Luckily for them, they don't have to actually watch him every week.

Stealing a living.

Nah but seriously they are similar players as target men. DCL is probably better in the air but has always lacked the ability to take players on and get shots off. Solanke does the latter better, which for me at least makes him a better player all round.

If we had the choice of any of them, one on one with the keeper, I can guarantee no one would choose DCL in recent years. Just lost that clinical touch.
If I had to choose a striker* to go one on one with the keeper it would go:

1, *Michael Keane (he's a striker, do it Dyche)
2, Beto - It would be funny to watch and he might scramble one in.
3, Maupay - It would be funny to watch.
4, DCL - Infuriating as I already know what's coming.

He just doesn't seem to have the ability to get it out of the keepers reach right now. You see the training drills they post where he bags but it's never the situations he misses that they're working on. You'd hope they're working on the weaknesses too and imagine they are but it's still a weakness.
