He did used to lead the line well though and really give opposition centre backs something to think about. He was a good back to the goal striker who would get around 8-10 goals per season. He just doesn't seem to have that ability to lead the line at the moment, maybe it's confidence, maybe he just isn't up to it physically any more, whatever the reason, his poor finishing is more difficult to accept now that his other attributes, back to the goal hold up play, running the channels and winning headers to flick on for runners is just no longer good enough.

Who can tell if this is just a crisis of confidence or if his body is just no longer up to it. Only time will tell. Either way we have a real problem at centre forward, let's hope it's just a short term one.

He has missed chances, that he should have scored - I sometimes noted our midfield is 20 yards off him - our engine room is running out off creativity TBF to him - & perhaps he knows when he gets his one chance per game he panics as he knows that hoof ball we play his chances are rare - He should be scoring those chances no doubts about it - Beto missed 2 on Saturday, but the display was woeful apart from our stand in keeper Virginia who won MOTM for us .....

He is lacking in confidence & no excuses for his misses either, but the service he gets ? your namesake would bury those chances easily .....

Holds the ball up?
What have you been watching? He constantly mistimes his jumps for headers and when he does connect the ball rarely finds its target player or area. His hold up play the last 18 months has been disgraceful and half-hearted.
