2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It is a frustrating part of his game, for sure. I think his allround game, when playing like he did yesterday, makes up for it.
It did yesterday , less so at the games when we lose though . If you get me ? Like a keeper can make 4 great saves but if he jumps over one that’s what you remember.

The lad fits perfectly into our system , a striker who can do similar and score those one on ones and we’d be flying . I’d be totally honest though those kind of players are very very hard to find

I think he was a bit tentative with the finishes. Perhaps there's a little bit of a lack of confidence. I want to see him put his foot through it more when going through on goal.

How much longer can we keep blaming it on a lack of confidence? He scored in back to back games earlier in the season so why didn’t that give him confidence? Maybe he’s just not a very good finisher.

I'm not putting it down to confidence. We know he's not a good finisher.

But there was a lack of conviction behind his efforts yesterday. I'd rather see him put his foot through it than try and just side foot it past the keeper.

There is a reason he is at Everton, If he could finish he would be at a much better team.
I have always liked and backed DCL. However, his finishing is so poor.

It's a shame he leaves without a fee. His work up top will be sorely missed but we really need someone who can put the ball in the net. Dom just isn't that.

Unfortunately at our level you don’t get a striker with Everything.

Be interesting to what Broja, Chermiti or even Beto can do with some of the chances Dwight McMessi is currently serving up to DCL.

If he’s also still stalling on a new contract we need to try other options out, but he’s always been a bit iffy with his finishing, and that won’t change as he’s too old now and won’t unlearn or learn anything new.

He’s got the hold up play of a champions league striker and the finishing ability of a league 2 striker. I’ve made my peace with that. He’s never going to be clinical, but his all round play means he is by far and away a better option than Beto.
I’ll be interested to see how Chermiti gets on when he comes back from injury. He showed some really promising glimpses in his cameos at the end of last season and looked sharp in pre season, hopefully the injury hasn’t set him back too much.

His finishes on the deck have always been rather lacklustre. I can think of at least three finishes Keane has produced, that I've never seen DCL do. I like the lad, he works hard for the team, but his finishes on the deck are generally naff.
