2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

As poor as Calvert Lewin was against Fulham, we really can't drop him for Beto whilst playing 'Dyche Ball', the ball just doesn't stick to Beto and we would be under constant pressure. The only way Beto gets starts are either as part of a 2 with Calvert Lewin, or with Dyche changing his go to tactic of having Pickford or Tarkowski punt it long at the centre forward.

Now we've seen them play as a 2, it really didn't work and is Dyche changing the way we set up really a realistic option? I think we are stuck with Calvert Lewin until Broja and Chermiti are fit and we must hope one of them proves to be a better option.

He's doing the business for them tbf, having somewhat of an Indian summer in his career.
Wood does all the stuff DCL does but finds the net consistently and I bang the drum for DCL.
I think he's being mentioned in dispatches more for his similarity to DCL rather than anyone wanting him signed.

182 in 550 career games for Wood with 40 in 91 for New Zealand, compared to DCL 84 in 300 with 4 in 11 for England, so Wood a slightly better strike rate over a longer period. DCL probably offers more all round for the team and if he is asked to do a similar job to what Wood is at Forest now, like Ancelotti did, then he gets a similar amount of goals.

Wood could have 1 in 2 and the media and our fans would still not rate him. The teams he’s played for and his style and build means he won’t get credit. In reality he is the exact type of player as DCL but a much much better finisher.
18 goals and only behind Haaland in goals since the Forest manager came.

Thanks for that fair enough over a career, however we're in the here and now and over the last 3 seasons I'm quite sure there would be a very noticeable difference between the two.
DCL ( who is still worth his place in the side IMO) has had more than enough decent chances to improve his goal tally.
I'll repeat myself here, not saying we should sign Wood, just think he's a decent comparison to DCL in style of play.
We can't keep bringing up Ancelotti, that's well in the past.

Like him or loathe him(not a nice word)

If I was him -playing the way we do, I'd not sign again. he might not be the bossest of slotters but by god the poor lad is not given a whole host of chances, which in turn put more pressure on him to score the few chances he does get.

He should score more but come on he spends 90% of the time chasing his own flick-ons and trying to bully two centre halves. He's unlucky that he's a perfect Dyche forward but not much good for his goals scored column.

….he’s had a fair few chances this season.

Rewatching some highlights, nice move out of defence leading to the Gana shot and his disallowed goal, I’m really not sure why he’s offside in that situation, just simple alertness to stay with the line of the defence. It’s a tight one but if he’s on his toes maybe it doesn’t even need to be borderline?
