2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

So has Pickford

Pickfords performed for both club and country consistently.
Calvert lewins 5 minute purple patch means he hasnt been near an England squad in 5 years.
The only reason 2 goal Dominic is still getting a start for this club is because we couldnt run a bath. He'd have been replaced a long long time ago at any club with an ounce of efficiency.

Best thing for the club may be that he goes now for a reduced fee (for a striker) and the buying club increases his wages. Unless we really feel that he offers so much more than Broja et al. Then keep him until summer and he gets his cash prize on a free.

Well , he is generally doing as he is asked or would not be getting picked by every manager he has played under.
Everton made it easy for him to get picked by every manager when they sold Lukaku and never replaced him. All our eggs were put in this basket and it hasn't worked. Definition of insanity and all that when it comes to picking DCL every week.

So what you are saying is that he is comfortably better than every striker we have had in best part of 8 years or whatever it is. Up until the last 9 months or so, he was very well regarded by any professional I ever heard talk about him. He has gone stale, no question, but that is on the club and the "style" of football he has been asked to play.

Of course not. Nothing is ever his fault.
I am not saying that you are camped on the wet beds but for a few on here they see everything as his fault. Clearly many sane supporters don't see it that way, and see that the "team" is generally weak, and the manager hates anything outside of our half. Our play as a "team" in the final third needs a huge amount of work and improvement but that will never happen under Dyche. Even though I do not like Dyche as a manager, he obviously sees what all the previous maangers did, that Dom is by some way our best forward and that he benefits the team in multiple ways.

The point is that Beto will be in and out before he's played 50 games because the club has acknowledged he isn't good enough.

Calvert-Lewin, on the other hand, has been rejecting offers to improve a salary that is well beyond his level of ability.
Did we actually offer him any higher salary? The rumours are we wanted 130k. But we aren’t willing to match that.

I thought bed-wetting was when you don't believe that the club will be any closer to signing players in August than they were in June?

In any case, I just think it's such an indictment that we can't seem to move on from this one average player. I am, however, very much game for using his form as a stick to beat Dyche with.

Well, I presume the offer would include improved terms.

No idea where that particular figure came from, though.

What professionals? And most ex pro's are reluctant to be honest and criticize anyway so i take all that with a pinch of salt. I'll use my own eyes. Everything on him is based on a 3 month spell five years ago. His stats are atrocious ever since. Goals. Assists. Atrocious.
Last season what was it, 6 months and 20 something games without scoring. What are we this season now. Is It 13/14 games and 4 months without one.
The only reason he hasnt been replaced is because Everton have been so inept in the transfer market. Not because of any quality.
Broja is just getting up to speed following injury. Wether he's any good remains to be seen but the fact that calvert lewin found himself on the bench at the weekend tells you that any forward that could be even half decent is going to be given a chance.
I cant believe im still posting in this thread.
its january.
2 goals and 1 assist lol.

I think he has always been stale if you look at his numbers. The club failed to bring in someone more suited for the job. It's not all his fault but his job consists of putting the ball in the back of the net and he's never really been good at doing that. Six of one, half dozen of another.

iT IS CLEAR TO ANYONEWITH A BRAIN THAT HIS JOB WAS TO HOLD THE BALL UP, win headers and flick ons and be a nuisance - he did this well, as well as anyone for a while. It has gone stale, he/the awful system has been found out - he needs to move and play for a proper side

Oh no, this thread is regularly flooded by Doms haters. It is quite the thing. :)

If that's all he was required to do, then as a team, Everton deserve to be relegated because no other teams ask their strikers to only do this and forget about scoring...weird comment and weird way to set up a team. Would be different if he had double digit assists each year with the cool little flick ons....wait he doesnt...waste of a position on the field and needed to be upgraded when Lukaku left. Not a goal scorer and doesn't bring teammates into the attack.

I agree to an extent. Asking Dom to score/assist when practically alone on the end of a tarks/pickford 80 yarder to his head while dealing with 2 top class cb's and no runners/support is utterly pathetic management and justifies his wanting out imo.

Sounds like you're saying nothing is ever his fault Spadge.
