To me, the big prizes that the current presidential candidates get are:
- Supreme Court picks, at least 1 (as the Senate won't act on Obama's current nominee), probably 2 (Ginsburg) in the first four years of their administration
- Domestic "tone" - while Congress obviously has to play a role in setting policy, unfortunately, their inability to work together (both sides of the aisle) have effectively removed them from social policy influence in the last several years. Thus the President, through the bully pulpit, executive orders and general operation of the Executive Branch gets to set the "tone" for domestic policy
- Foreign policy - the President of the USA is the de facto leader of the "free world" - with that comes serious responsibility, things that are not listed in the basic job duties. But I take seriously the need for the President to be a leader, facilitator and influencer in our world.
Given those things, I'd rather see Hillary than Donald, just for the fact I don't think she'll screw us up as much or for as long as Donald would.
