Duncan Ferguson the coach

No, you were suggesting that somebody wouldn't be able to coach players in a particular position unless they were world class there themselves. I'm helpfully pointing out how ridiculous that notion is by reminding you of the limited playing career of our head coach.
I never said anything about having to be 'world class' i hate that term tbh it is so over used, all i said was that Dunc was a fairly average player and i was not sure what he could offer, i did also mention that Rom has said in that final season that he found Dunc important to his development, so maybe he does have something to offer.

I'm not trying to argue, I have absolutely no idea whether he's a brilliant coach or a terrible one. I was just pointing out that even if he was an absolutely appalling centre forward himself, it wouldn't mean he couldn't coach other people. I maybe take it a bit personally because I've coached cricket at a much higher standard than I ever played it so I find it annoying when people suggest you have to be able to do it yourself in order to be qualified to help others.

Those who can, Do
Those who can't, Teach

The club giving a much loved ex player a foot up in the game. Part of his pro licence means he has to be coaching at an elite level, having done his pro licence he is now gaining experience before launching out on his own. Great loyalty from the club and yes he probably is only laying out cones, what harm is there in it.
Dont hold your breath on that one mate.

He's one of the gravy train's permanent passengers.

You reject the idea that all of the best coaches available to us right now are Portuguese and happen to have been working with our manager for years? And you think that people who have worked with the manager for years and are ostensibly yes men are more likely to be objective than someone who's never worked with him before? In that case I think you're a little naïve.

I'm not trying to have a go at our coaches here, i'm saying that's how it is everywhere. Clubs don't go out and actively recruit the best coaches for every role, they give the jobs to ex-players and people the manager likes. C'est la vie.
Jeffers, Unsworth, Ebbrell, Ferguson, etc etc. They aren't going to offer us the best we can get. It's jobs for the boys.

I have more respect for people like Davie Weir who went off on his own and at least had a go at management...he was hopeless at it but nevertheless.

WIP not a shambles. Try some positivity, its actually refreshing in small doses pal
Mate, I see Everton where we are and compare it with what we've been capable of in the past. To me it's a shambles.

We have a billionaire without billions; a revolving door on the manager's office; we're onto our 5th or 6th stadium scheme and still getting nowhere; we haven't had a trophy in the cabinet for 23 years - a club this size!

Yes, we ARE a shambles.

Wow, that is some depressing stuff. A Thought we played some excellent football against Southampton, does this cheer you up?

I agree with a lot of what Dave says but to be fair on this subject I find him a bit nauseating. We missed the boat when the premier league started but it doesn’t mean we can’t grt back on it. Moshiri has made mistakes but he’s not scared make changes and get back on the bike in my opinion. He may make money in the long run and fair play if he does but he’s definitely investing I can’t see how anyone can argue against that. He’s only been in the job just over 2 years cut him some slack.

I do enjoy seeing Everton play and win with good football. That's all there is in football for me...that and seeing Liverpool humiliated.

I just dont accept the kind of club we've become. If you do accept it then that's your choice.
