Bloody hell Dav, that’s rolling the years back mateMac'n'Tosh.
Fair point. I thought McKenzie went in the autumn of 77, not 78. I remember on his return with Chelsea he scored a cracking goal and got a huge cheer, but Martin Dobbo won us the game, my bad!I cannot agree with that.
Duncan was an integral part of the very entertaining 1977/78 side, Gordon’s first full season, which was involved in the title race all season.
He made 28 starts and scored 9 goals.
Gordon’s team was never as good after Mac was sold at the end of that campaign.
We all agreeeeee.......Duncan McKenzie is magic.....

Didn't we buy Micky Walsh from Blackpool as his replacement?
I'm sure we got the sensational Geff Nulty at the same time.
Halcyon days indeed.
Poor Nulty, in all my time supporting the Toffee's, I have never witnessed so much hatred for one player.
He was bang average, but didn't deserve the the vitreol eminating from the terrraces.
Rumour has it that Shilton was ours until Clough threw him a bung. He would've made the difference. George Wood could be both brilliant and awful. That was some side, that 77/78 one....as you say one of the best we have seen.
Undoubtedly the best outside actual Everton title winning sides IMO.
We might have won the league that year had we not caught a Tartar at home to a newly promoted team on the first day.
Cloughie’s nascent English and European champions......
Gordon then sold Duncan and bought Blackpool Mickey Walsh
