2024/25 Dwight McNeil

attempting a through ball that was absolutely never on, al because he had to check back onto his left AGAIN was bad enough, standing around then doing a stupid little hop he does often when if he just closes down the CB the counter is snuffed out before it starts was unforgivable.

Fraud of a player
You're a fan, right?

But would you call him a rat at the train station?

Mate, he came through Man Utds academy.
Well I did say "entire PL career", as you can work on and improve things past the age of 18 you know.

He's been under Dyche's wing/guidance since he's been 15 and also "came through" in this sense means "got kicked out of" by the by, as he wasn't getting game time.

Limited manager loving a shockingly limited footballer who runs around a lot shocker.

Tbh I think he is a player who probably never developed as I really don't see how a player with such a limited skillset would get anywhere near an academy like United's. Either that or Dyche has knocked anything decent out of him in favour of the 'hard yards' nonsense.

No idea and anything we say will be speculation in reality, but I do feel it's probably the hard yards BS, as you say.

He's definitely great at tracking back and defending but he's atrocious at most things you'd need in the Premier League. He's a top lad obviously and had that purple patch of games but 9 out of 10 kicks of his are misplaced, he can't cross in open play for some reason and is an actual slug as far as pace is concerned.

Said it even during his good games - he receives the ball in the middle, Myko makes a small run forward into space and the ball is played 5 meters behind him so he has to get it back; culprit in the fans' eyes is Myko as he doesn't go forward enough, not McNeil for the atrocious ball that makes us go back to Pickford basically. This happens quite often, and I don't mean a run forward as a Baines run or anything, just past the halfway line ffs, usually a ball under no pressure.

Then after 5 of those naturally he hits a sweet volley in the top corner or something like that which baits you into thinking he's got some quality about him, only to repeat the previous situation a few more times

He's added "dribble as quickly as possible backwards" to his arsenal of skills as well so exciting times.

Theres no more luck for Dyche to ride regards this insistence on playing McNeil from the start. His ball control is clearly extremely poor...not helped of course by his overtly obvious left peg reliance. I'd have thought that he realised that himself and therefore focussed on what his one strength is....his shot. That never happens either.
