ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Was odds on to win that btw
The BBC mustve though that was nailed on as it was televised last night... dont remember that ever being the case. Too much temptation for them I guess with Herr Klopp in the running for top coach. At least him winning that sent the RS to bed growling about bias against them for not doing the double.

A few years ago they poached two members of our coaching staff. They were automatically shut out from our scouting database but they knew the password of one of their former colleagues and started to use all our scouting data. When we caught them they paid us £1M to keep quiet. I suspect our owners have leaked this to the media as part of our ongoing feud with them. Both of the former City employees were then promoted by Liverpool and both have fairly high positions in the Liverpool backroom staff. I think one of them is current head of recruitment.

Ive only seen this today from yesterday. The Times had it as an Exclusive. Heres the jist that clarifies it...(theres a firewall)

.....The scandal would appear to be the biggest incident of alleged misbehaviour by one top-flight club to another in the Premier League’s history.

The settlement came a year after three former City scouts moved to Liverpool. Two of them, as well as Michael Edwards who is now Liverpool’s sporting director, were alleged by City to have been involved in accessing their database on the Scout7 system on hundreds of occasions.

The two scouts alleged to have been involved in accessing City’s Scout7 system were Dave Fallows, now Liverpool’s head of recruitment, and Julian Ward, who was Liverpool’s European scouting manager for Spain and Portugal and is now the loan pathways and football partnerships manager.

The £1 million settlement was made without Liverpool or the accused individuals accepting any liability or wrongdoing. The allegations and the information on which they were based were never tested in court. City declined to comment when contacted by The Times. Liverpool said it was unable to respond in the time available and would not comment on confidential club matters.

It is understood to have followed a legal complaint by City to Liverpool and the three employees in July 2013, which alleged that the system had been unlawfully accessed using the login and password of a City scout over an eight-month period from June 2012 to February 2013. If proven, such behaviour would look to have contravened the Premier League’s rules, which stated both in 2012 and now: “Each club shall behave towards each other club and the League with the utmost good faith.

Just had a glance and in 2013, City had peak Silva, Nasri and Navas in their team scoring and creating plenty. The last thing they needed was another attacking midfielder, they would never have signed Coutinho who, at the time was rotting at Inter Milan being managed by none other than, Rafael Benitez. And City didn't sign another one till 2 years later in 2015 when they signed Sterling and KDB.

Also, if City were scouting Van Dijk at Groningen in 2013, then fair play, that's impressive. But if they hadn't changed their scouting system passwords by 2018, 5 years after the settlement, I've little sympathy for them.

Where are you getting 2018 from?
