ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Has it been confirmed? Where was that then? Paul Joyce seemed to report it as real.
He hasnt reported it mate.

Check Azuls Twitter replies. Hes admitted it. Tactical Times have just confirmed too.

Bit of a mad forum this, get attacked for being objective.

If you've got reds in the family like I have you need info to check out before you start using it against them for banter otherwise you leave yourself open to situations like this.

Tell that to the numerous RS fans whose heads are falling off all over the gaff.
It is inexcusable to post disinformation regarding Coronavirus at the moment. We are at a key point in the fight, we desperately need as many people as possible to get vaccinated.

This hoax perfectly illustrates how easy it is to spread conspiracy theories and disinformation. A post on Twitter gets picked on a forum, then spreads to this forum and no one bothers to fact-check it because it claims to quote an article from a respected source and away we go.

That is how the myths peddled by anti-vaxxers spreads and why you get people setting fire to 5G masts. Myths that cost people their lives.

The sad thing is that posters on here who should know better jumped on it because it fed their prejudices. It was the usual suspects, ironically posters who largely don't reside in Liverpool.

How long would it have taken those posters to actually google the story and find that it was a hoax.

You need to calm down mate.

It was someone having a laugh about the footy trying to wind some reds up. Was a laugh

Nothing was mentioned of covid.

It is actually quite dangerous and reminds me off Trump supporters in the States. Instead of taking thirty seconds to check the veracity of something they just pile in because it fits with their prejudices. When they get called out instead of apologizing and admitting they were wrong they double down.

It was about the COVID tier system and suggested that an 'L' postcode had relevance regarding whether people could go to a match at Goodison or Anfield.

Anyone who resides in the Liverpool city region which includes Halton, the Wirral and St Helens can attend matches at Goodison or Anfield. That message was obfuscated by a hoax in very poor taste.

The worrying thing is that no one challenged it.

Well you don't have more local fans, in fact youve got about 20% of the match going fans as to your rivals.

And I can assure you mate, United, Barcelona and Madrid have got more than 5,000 local match going fans. You're probably the club with the smallest local support in the entire league. But I suppose having your Jacob Rees Moggs, your Michael Howards, your Richard Tice's etc who all absolutely despise the city and it's people makes up for it. Thats the real winner.

A tiny minority in your own city, but tory fans all over the rest of the country.
Which part of Liverpool do you live in ?

I was referring to the twitter Financial Times post being a hoax and the 5k fans etc.

I don't know how it is Covid related. It was done as a piss take and to get a reaction out of the most deluded and most self entitled fans in world footy, and it got that reaction, job done. :coffee:
