ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

It feels to me like them getting top 4 and this miracle rubbish of them making it has been so over the top, they were only 3 points off 4th with 8 games to go-yet the press and co would have you think they were about 10-15 points behind with 2 months left, and going by sky stuff last week they had been in the top 4 the 3rd longest when days were combined this season

Given the 2 young lads did reasonably well in the last few games surely questions have got to be asked of Klopp. He chose to play Matip until he broke and move his best DM to CB instead of using these 2. They probably aren't good enough but they did enough of a job that they should have played more games and the RS would have probably been competing with United for 2nd. He seemed to want to sulk when VvD got injured and although he ultimately got out of jail it was more the failings of others. He is heralded as a top manager I just think he's lucky.

It's been a massive failure of a season for them make no mistake.

Wasn't arsed in the slightest that they got the expected win yesterday. Anyone can chat about their centre halves being missing but that doesn't hide the fact their front 3 were absolutely abysmal for about 2 months straight.

They were supposed to be a dominant force after last season, but that just looks like a flash in the pan.

Going from title winners to scraping into the CL on the last day of the season, I'll take that because they won exactly the same as us, f all

What crowd factor? The one where Atletico Madrid bounced them out?

It's a complete myth. It will aid clubs who are at the bottom end of the league more. Clubs have gone to Anfield and got results, they will be mentally more shaken than at any time in Klopps tenure.

Is there any qualitative evidence they need fans back? Like I can show you our home v away record, and you can see in terms of numbers it has made a difference. Their home record is not any worse than their away record this season. They havent struggled anymore at Anfield than elsewhere. Sides have just worked them out a bit.
They were something like 64 games unbeaten in the league with fans in the stadium. Stop chatting wham.

Taa gets away with another red thiago fouling all game and nothing, they dont have to play under normal rules , nothing will change next season man u and liverpool will still get dodgy decisions, it's down to the 14 clubs to impose their punishment on them, I wouldn't kick a ball against them until every camera was removed from the stadium home and away, bleed them dry and punish the money men , the real fans will still get to see football.
Didn't see them but apparently thiago and taa were kicking palace all over the shop and the ref did sweet fa

I think it is more a case of another one of those factors where they think they are more special than any other club. They have to be seen as the best in everything, pundits continuously mention the amazing atmosphere. When in reality it is generally them singing a show tune for a couple of minutes, while performing the amazing feat of holding up a scarf, and then 90 minutes of silence.

I would say that they simply had a good team during that time and teams sat back or played the wrong tactics against them, added with the probability of some home referring. I would argue that these had just as big a factor on that run than the crowd. Although it is almost impossible to quantify, they will try with some ambiguous stats next season though. I can see the alternative crowd tables being thought up as we speak.

Tbh mate I don't see the fuss with the atmosphere but catcher was asking for evidence that he knows full well is there. I don't know if it's a referee thing or opposition players have bought into the myth but their fans absolutely make a difference. No chance they drop as many of those home points against crap teams with fans in the stadium, they just wouldn't allow it.

They dont come back from 3-0 to barca in an empty Anfield.

Whats amazing is that City have won the title on top of the league cup this season, they’ve done it without playing strikers with full backs drifting into midfield, they’ve got a champions league final coming up. Yet the biggest news stories are around Liverpool getting 4th, why Nat Phillips is amazing, and Alexander Arnold may not being picked for a England.

Can you imagine the column inches if Liverpool had won three out the last four titles one with over 100 points, they’d won it this season without strikers and with Alexander Arnold roaming into midfield, they’d won 4 league cups in a row and an FA Cup, and they had a CL final coming up. They’d be talked about as the greatest team in history. Instead we’ve had Liverpool players winning player of the year most of the time during this period and their one title win was deemed the start of a dynasty.

The media in this country are a joke when it comes to football.

Yep. How anyone can underestimate the impact a positive crowd can have for any team doesn't really understand football and/or has never been the match. Chelsea last season under Dunc, anyone there that day will know how much the crowd played their part. No way we were losing.

I'm pretty sure Atletico Madrid defeated them with fans in?

They had a good run, with a great team. Then they got found out.

Were there fans in Anfield, we would still have cruised to a win. Fans are not going to ensure Arnold sprinting at full speed can keep up with with Calvert Lewin jogging.

Wasn’t that unbeaten run some sort of home record or something? If they got found out, it took a while for teams to find them. I think they got lucky and scraped in at the end, and I think injuries cost them more than fans but it clearly makes a difference. They’re not the only club though.
