ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

It's their cup final.

Liverpool were like we are when we beat Chelsea at home. Hopeless.

That kick and run footy Liverpool have perfected over the years: big downfield punt to Torres/Suarez/Salah is horrendous to watch. But there's no one in the media ready or wiling to call them out for the Emperor's clothes 'style' of attacking football.

They're basically Leicester when they won the title but without the title.

Hoofball merchants.
a RS I have the misfortune to be aquatinted with describes their kick and rush football as 'scintillating'

Hooooooof.

Annoyingly they’re not even going to be impacted by the World Cup that much. A lot of their main players either aren’t going or will be barely used whereas most of the rest of the sky 6 will be having their first 11s pounded.

4 of their forwards will be going, Salah the exception

Two of their other 3 Brazilians, Keita, Konate, Thiago, Van Dijk and likely Alexander Arnold, Henderson and Gomez

For context City will have only 3 more players going than them, Arsenal one less, United 1/2 more, Chelsea around the same and Spurs around 3 more. They’re all going to be hit by the World Cup, it’s going to come down to who has the bigger balls to step up post WC

They won cause of a horrendous mistake by City's Centre back and City's inability to finish. The ref was barmy by the way. The commentators go on about the refs allowing the game to flow and the physical part of the game is being allowed to happen and that's great but they need to differentiate between physicality and a foul. A foul is still a foul. They're letting things go when it's clearly a foul, then someone gets the ball quite fairly but the follow through trips the opponent and they give a foul. It's completely bonkers.

Their football is awful and has been for ages. It’s just lash it down the middle as hard as possible and start fouling when the ball drops.
It's as agricultural as it gets. The media have had to repackage Klopp's muck as 'heavy metal football' or whatever to cover the great lie up.

Van Bronckhorst had it right before their game with them: "Liverpool's playing style is direct with long balls and runners"...and the media took umbrage with it because they interpreted that as an insult rather than a blindingly obvious accurate description of their hoof ball style.

He was clearly instructed to keep the game 'flowing' whenever a Liverpool player pushed a City player in the back or tripped them up and to whistle when it was the other way around.

These are the ways the PL like to keep the 'elite team' brand in place.

Anyone can see that those two organisations are poles apart now and any even handed application of the rules would have seen City win...and with some ease.
