ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Too late, they already blew that opportunity.

As soon as footy was suspended they should have come out and said that they don't care about the league title, all that mattered was protecting people and minimising the risk the lives of human beings and rs supporters. It was the right move from a moral and PR point of view, most of the world would have thought it was a noble sentiment that would have been remembered even if the league was voided.

Instead the club and fanbase have laid themselves bare as self entitled and arrogant as they use every medium and anyone with the most tenuous connection to them to spin their tale of how the league needs to go on, they need to be champions, the unfairness of how this is happening to them and how they are the priority. Entirely lacking in compassion and empathy and whatever they do now it will never make up for their actions and words while people fight for their lives.

I've always hated them as a rival football club but I honestly think they are beyond contempt now.

I want all you rs lurkers to remember this in a couple of years when klopp or carragher is preaching about the value of life at the Hillsborough remembrance. It doesn't matter now what they say, you've now seen the actual priority and value they put in human lives. Not as much as getting red ribbons on a shiny cup.

Holocaust of a football club that I wish could be expunged from history.
this. post deserves a shiny cup all of its own with blue and white ribbons.089A.webp

as each day passes, we seem to getting further away from games restarting again, not closer. I don't really care, my bro in law is holed up in isolation with it, he has lots of ,medical conditions including asthma, so he's petrified of what may happen (he's just mailed me a new copy of his will) and my folks are both in their late 70s with health problems. Restarting the footy season is not happening until people can leave the house without fear of dying.
Exactly mate,my old fella is 81,insulin dependant diabetic, my mum 79 has osteoarthritis, I work at the Walton Centre so I'm paranoid about what I myself may or may not be carrying

They want to be the face of the effort to fight coronavirus. They’re such a bizarre club. It’s like when they went to lay a wreath at Ground Zero about 14 years after 9/11 and obviously they had to publicise it.
Remember when Johan Cruyff died they had a large banner with a quote from the player about Liverpool, it was disgusting, they even made that about them.
The attitude they have towards human tragedy and death, including Hilsbourgh, is truly disgusting.

It won't be long before the FA and the premier league roll them out as the face of the fight against the virus with slo - mo of RS players with YNWA playing in the background.

I've no doubt that if the season does start up again and they clinch the title behind closed doors, these Cult FC whoppers will just totally ignore the social distancing advice and will just pitch up en masse outside Anfield putting themselves and their fellow fans at risk.

Of course they would just dismiss any criticism and stamp their feet to the tune of "WE ARE LIVERPOOL, this means more" " we've waited 30 years for this" and pop up on phone-ins and across social media trying to justify their actions.

This isn’t a dig at them as such more football fans in general but the people going on about the season still having to be finished, still bleeting on about the 19/20 season and the ones constantly posting inane crap banter like “ now there’s no football I’ve found out I’m married, she seems nice” aside from having an inability to see the big picture really don’t have anything else in their lives do they? It’s quite sad really

If they start the league up and a lock down is still in place then it just spits in the face of all the efforts the entire country will have made. They will gather in their thousands.

For me the obvious solution is to void the season and start a new campaign when possible but that won't happen for reasons revolving around money. Instead, we will have the farce of games behind closed downs whilst thousands die around the country.

Give Liverpool the league title. I couldn't care less. Just don't pretend there's an appetite for games to be played with no fans throughout the month of July.
