ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I learnt early mate and its stood me in good stead.

I should have learned from 1986 and 1989. Joe Royle had their number for a few years. Then normal service resumed. Was slightly hopeful before this season's FA Cup debacle.
Add to that all their jammy cup wins on penalties or dodgy dives. I'd prefer it was Everton being the cause of their demise but this'll do nicely. That's if it is the RS in the financial poo.

You forgetting Liverpool's wage bill?

Thing is even if they're actually not the team this article has in mind then they're losing close to £9m a week. Their wage bill last was £310m which is basically £6m a week straight of the bat.

Then they've still got to pay most of VVD, Allison, Keitas and Fabinho's transfer fees....then they've got to serve the FSG loan and the bank debt and all other sundry expenses.

Looks like Klopp and John Henry need to start walking up and down their gardens then and give that whopper Michael Ball a ring.

I'm not sure what it is in comparison to others. Obviously I'd expect it to be high but I'm not sure why everyone is necessarily assuming its them. They wouldn't halt a revenue stream like that if they were haemorrhaging money.

Wishful thinking I suppose.

How can they expect to sell next years’ season tickets when this season isn’t even finished?? After the furlough scandal their fans would turn on them massively and it’s probably fan pressure that’s led to this.

We put our renewal date back weeks ago and I expect we’ll do so again if it’s not yet resolved. This is why most clubs want the void scenario so they can then provisionally look to be building for next season but Liverpool can’t support that for obvious reasons.

Also, Liverpool have less season ticket holders than us. If they sell 20,000 at a very generous average of £1,000 each, it won’t be, it’ll be considerably less, it’s only £20 million. It’s hardly huge amounts to them with their commitments, it’s about 2 days of losses covered. It’s hard not to laugh at this point.

Thing is are they losing 9m a month or are they making 9m less then they normally do?

Good question. The report seems to suggest they are losing £9million a week. My interpretation is that they are losing £9million per week in terms of turnover and income lost. You are right to say they are slightly different. However in all honesty there will be very little difference between the two figures, as most of the outgoings are wages, transfers etc that still need paying.

It could be that they are actually in deficit £9m per week.

Haw you got a source for the £310m mate? It sounds about spot on to me, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Apparently it's Spurs losing 9million a month, they have NFL games and also the Joshua fight and Guns and Roses and other gigs lined up in the next 3 months with massive loan repayments every month paying off the stadium, it was John Cross who reported it who's the Arsenal journo at The Mirror who got the info.

Just heard on Radio Merseyside news there that the RS have halted season ticket renewals. Can't be them losing that money then? I reckon its Spurs. That stadium isn't paying for itself while its empty.

I don't know if it's them or not, but I can assure you, temporarily halting ST renewals will have very little impact upon whether they are haemorrhaging 9 million a week or not.

On Spurs, it can't be Spurs, Spurs do not make £9million a week to lose. Only 3 sides do. Of the 3 you can discount City, as there sponsorship will hold up and they are unlikely to go to the press.

It's them or United, and given who has furloughed and who has, balance of probability would be it's Liverpool (who have far less cash reserves than United).

Either way, even if it were United, Liverpool would also be in big big trouble. United have far longer standing relations with sponsors, so if they are cancelling for United, then much newer deals will be cancelling for Liverpool as well.

As for halting ST renewals, I haven't seen the exact story, but there's a lot that could be behind this. Most likely they want to maximise revenue, and reduce the amount of discounted tickets sold to ST holders.

Why would you discuss someone's health in public when you don't really know? Not sure I'd class that as a "throwaway remark" tbh.
Hes a Grade 1 eejit who should have been turfed out when Hansen packed in. Id ask where his moral compass is.... tho he claims he doesnt even know when/if/what he said. At least, therefore, weve found the berk's irony by-pass

Spurs don't make £9 million a week in total. So it would be very very odd if it were them.

Either way, if Spurs are losing lots of money, then you can guarantee Liverpool will be as well (as well as United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc). You're basically saying sponsors are paying 0 money. I'd done some workings on a 30% pay drop from sponsors that looked quite bleak for them, this looks to be close to 100%.

If it is Spurs, especially with the stadium debt too, and missing covenants that is really bad and explains why they are considering trying to sell Kane.
