ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

It's weird and difficult to understand. They appear to enjoy the limelight of those that suffered.
If Rhys Jones or Maddie Mccann had been pictured in RS shirts they would have flags and banners and all sorts going on. I don't get it and find sick tbh.

Do Bradford or Juve fans behave in a similar way over their own tragedies?

Serious question - not for one second trying to point score over something so emotive.

Its is strange how the club used this for mind games against teams. If the league title is for the 96, then what about the UEFA cup or the CL cup, don't these counts. I'm confused to be honest.

These references to Hillsborough inspiring LFC to victory are getting increasingly manipulative IMHO. I totally support the campaign for justice and the deep feeling surrounding the anniversary BUT I would honestly like to see it put to bed after these inquests if they reach the right conclusion (which I pray to God they will).

Such a tragedy - where the focus should be on the families who suffered terrible trauma - is NOT a shorthand for a team talk FFS! If one of my family members was involved I wouldn't be happy to have them referred to as one of "96 people in the sky" supporting 'us'... !!!

Brenda and most of the players have no personal association with the tragedy. They should not be laying themselves open to charges of milking it for their own ends. They can show support without grandstanding. THAT would be the classy thing to do.

I wouldn't go far as saying Rodgers enjoys the limelight of those who suffered. There's no way that would be true.

I'm merely highlighting that this is a tragedy that shouldn't be a topic of conversation or tool that can be used for the purposes of winning a football competition. It's just bizarre that this feller doesn't seem to have the strength of the situation on this matter. I couldn't envisage, say, Dalglish using it like this. Rodgers does come across as being a bit weird, tbh.

It's not just Rodgers tho
The fans around the world signing off "JTF96"
The clubs tragedy seems to be a motto of unity for fans even those who have never been to the city or a game in their lives.
Can fans who watch on telly really share the same emotion as those who are directly affected?
Do Bradford and Juve fans do the same?

Also, if and when there is "justice" what then? Do they pack away the banners and MEME's and focus on the YNWA motto?

I find this feller's use of a disaster for football distasteful to say the least. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27096737

I'm sorry. There's no excuse for this.

This just gets worse and worse... It is revolting.

Justice for the 96 is only about justice for the families of those who never returned, in my book at least. I will support that campaign until justice is delivered. It has nothing to do with the institution that is Liverpool FC. It would be good if they made that distinction also.

completely agree. i don't like talking about the subject too much because it's very touchy, i just feel the same way. if you're a parent who has no interest in football, but lost a son or daughter at that tragedy, them winning the title is not going to bring you any warmth whatsoever.

i just don't think rodgers should be using the tragedy as a battling cry like he has been lately. it affected the city as a whole, you don't see everton using as an injection of inspiration to finish top 4 etc.

anyway, i'll say no more, JFT 96 as ever.

do we root for Juve next season and their 30th anniversary?
I am completely uneasy at the 'connection' between the 25th anniversary and the almost title success as is.
The campaign has always had my undivided support because it was above football, this seems to sully it somewhat

You're 100% right mate.

However, certain institutions (i.e. LFC) have latched on to JFT96 like hitching a ride on a train and are riding it. It's just not right.

I only go on twitter occasionally but almost every #JFT96 hashtag I see invariably follows something TOTALLY unrelated to what actually happened at Hillsborough.

These #YNWA #JTF96 tags are mainly posted by pure bandwagon-jumping/glory-hunting/grief-porn exploiting feckwits who make me want to reply with #YAWN #JTF39 (but I don't because that would be lowering myself to their level of crassness).

I hope to God that LFC will draw a line under it once justice IS served.

Well I do hope you get some closure over all this 25 year long irritation...

"Their level of crassness..." Ok.
