ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

All this is true but many people on this thread are saying that the manager is an amateur, the players are average and the club is in some sort of turmoil. No, they lost a great striker and they'll probably get another. Sturridge is a 20 goal man anyway so it's not really needed.

They can win it next year and I think the whole mocking them thing is a bit silly when they finished 2nd.

Agreed

Shouldn't count those chickens before they hatch

They have enough quality to be in the top 4 mix and even possibly higher

Van Gaal is an experienced manager with a good rap sheet but it will be only his first season in charge. I still don't think Arsenal will ever win the league while Wenger is still in charge. So that most likely points to City, Chelsea and Liverpool fighting for the title, based on how last season ended anyway.

We should wait till Christmas before we start putting up the "Kopites fail for another season" bunting

Still laughing heartily at the Great Collapse; still pissing meself they got stabbed in the back by their hero and 'best player in dee 'ole werld lad', Suarez; still laughing that they've got an utter fraud of a manager who's won nothing and will continue to be a no mark whilst taking the adulation off those mugs; and still ROFLing at the Kopites invading this forum trying to put a brave face on it.

Ha Ha Ha.

The manager is clueless, "Stevie G/Hendo/Sterling/Johnson" were shown to be totally average just a few weeks ago, they lost a world class striker/rat where they just can't replace the sheer quality, and Sturridge missed a hatfull at the WC as main striker.

No way can they win it, the refs will not get away with the [Poor language removed] they allowed them to pull last season.

Back with the big boys Champions League, an incredible ammount of money coming in, ground extention improving the match day revenue by £30 million a year started, upgrading players that finished second last season and still have up to £100,000,000 to spend. Yep what's not to laugh about

And all this achieved by being everyone's second favourite team. They also have oodles of class and dignity that money can't buy. Unlike everyone else in the world, they never do anything wrong. In fact, I am crying and shaking just thinking about it.

To be fair there are a lot of people who have been abused & beaten to a pulp (and worse) who certainly do not find LFC and their supporters a laughing matter.

£14m for Borini is a lot, but LFC is only going to make a £3m profit on him. They signed him for £11m in the first place.

When you consider Aspas was signed for £8m last summer, flopped, and has now been sent out on a season long loan with view to a cut price permanent deal next summer, they're not that boss at doing great deals.

Remember Cisse? Signed for £14m, sold for £7m two years later. Best one was Diouff, signed for £10m and sold for £2m to Bolton.
Lets not forget Aquilani cost them £20m loaned out for 2 seasons and left on a free.

Suarez is arguably in the top three players in the world: if you are bringing in Remy and Lambert to replace him, you are doing it wrong.

He scored 31 league goals last season and set up loads too, that is really hard to replace. I don't think Sturridge will have as good a season either, he worked well with Suarez. So, when you consider their frontline nearly won them the league in spite of their awful defence, and that they have lost their best striker, and as yet, haven't improved their defence, it is hard to make a claim for them winning the title mate.

Throw in the fact that Chelsea will be stronger this year as well as Man U, City and probably Arsenal, I think it is safe to say they will be knocking about with us and Spurs. Last season was their chance, but their collective monumental knobhead ego conspired to mess it all up for them. And it was beautiful.

Can't believe people are talking about Liverpool winning the title again. It was only the beggining of last season people were in histerics at their aspirations for top four. Rogers seems to have brought back a bit of belief and fear. Be nice to think Bobby can emulate that.

ROFL ROFL.

nice try. upgrading? they're going into the CL without their best player , the guy who dragged them to where they are and replaced it with a load of players from teams like southampton.

they've always had incredible amounts of money and were going to get a ground extension. none of that changed just because they threw away the title, which is what people are laughing at.

Unless Rodgers radically changes their gameplan, that belief will fade quickly. Their entire strategy last season was an all out blitz from the start of the game, getting an early goal, and then being able to counterattack. Check out their record when not scoring in the first 30 minutes. It's not good. And without bitey they won't be able to count on a goal in the first 1/3 of a game anymore.

LMAO Everything Rodgers has ever done has been to emulate Martinez.

It was Martinez who put the Swansea style of play into practice, and Rodgers just rode his coat-tails (after previously being sacked at Watford and doing nothing at Reading).

It was Martinez who played Barry at the back, which led to Rodgers copying him and playing Stevie Slip there.

The one thing Rodgers hasn't done in emulating Martinez is winning a trophy.
