Do you think Chelsea should have fired Mourinho last season?
They'll lose tonight, Liverpool. United and Arsenal have staked their claims for 3rd and 4th in impressive style; Liverpool are under pressure to get all three points and Swansea are an absolute **** to play against down there, have pretty much nothing to play for and can play relaxed football; and that Sterling situation is quickly becoming poison in Liverpool's dressing room.
2-0 Swansea.
Has that **** started jabbering away about 'technical' excellence and his tactical masterclass yet?
kin no mark.
Sadly that no mark has combined everything Liverpool are good at, deep defense, kick and rush, playing for penalties, hit and hope for deflections. with or without Suarez he's put together long periods of title winning form in a way no other liverpool manager has. apar from one season under Rafael you never had to worry about them winning the league but they looked like they would fluke the champions league every year. Its the opposite now. Rodgers is not a serial cup winner but if he keeps this league form up there will be another season when one of Chelsea or City are not at the races and they could sneak in. What makes it worse is he's doing it with a collection of no mark players like Mignolet Johnson Allen Henderson Lallana - all of these players are not in the world class bracket and can be distinctly average. Even Sterling and Sturridge are not special, their goal tallies are woeful. Yet Rodgers seems to be able to create this horrific destructive system where they just let the other team have the ball then get one on the break then play on the counter and it works. What we need is for Mourinho, Pellegrini and LVG to usher in a period of Chelsea/Manc dominance where they literally buy the league every season. Hopefully the stupid owners will fire Rodgers at some point and another manager will come in and I honestly think they would finish midtable.
But that will ALWAYS happen (Chelsea or City will purchase the necessary players and manager combo to win the title). Liverpool might (under a freak season with less workload) push them close, but they'll only get within touching distance at best until FSG sell up to some real money owners...owners who can throw £600M at a squad over three seasons or so. The other (related) thing is this: Liverpool produce quality players and they'll be stripped of them. They cant build on strength.Sadly that no mark has combined everything Liverpool are good at, deep defense, kick and rush, playing for penalties, hit and hope for deflections. with or without Suarez he's put together long periods of title winning form in a way no other liverpool manager has. apar from one season under Rafael you never had to worry about them winning the league but they looked like they would fluke the champions league every year. i'd rather them be stuck with a league manager than a cup manager. they fluke so many cups through pens/away goals etc. can't do that in the league and simply put they're not good enough to win it because their manager isn't a winner.
2 points away last year. Look at their form now, it is title winning form. If they went out and bought another top striker this summer and started next season like this one they'll be a massive threat. The difference is when City or Chelsea play really badly they tend to draw or lose. Liverpool stink the place out and still get a lucky win when they're like this. Obviously they haven't won it for yonks so its not like its an impending inevitablity, if anyone can cock up a title challenge Liverpool can, but with Rodgers at the helm they look more likely than any other manager they've had recently. In my opinion Rafael was a better manager who played better football and built a better team but was plagued by draws against teams who would sit back. Rodgers will allow even Burnley to dominate possession at Anfield in order to smash them on the break. In fact only Everton out of the premier league were so incompetent against them that we couldn't get the ball then when they had to make the play they had nothing. Equally that's why they failed against Bolton and Blackburn sides so poor Liverpool had to take up the running. As soon as those sides are at home though and try and play a bit it goes right into Liverpool's hands. If ever the anti football kick and rush doesn't work there's always the deflected goal, the penalty, the wonder goal, the defensive error to let him off the hook. Rodgers lucks through when they're not playing well then never falters when they are on top.

Best they can do is a domestic cup for the foreseeable.
Out of the players in their current squad though how many would go to the next level? Sturridge? No top side would touch him, inconsistent and injury prone and without Suarez a poor goal record. Sterling? Massive wages, another one with a poor goal return and has really not done anything that special ever in his career to warrant nay of the hype. The media fall sucker to it, top scouts do not. Coutinho? Maybe, but he's not in the same class bracket as Silva Fabregas Isco, Iniesta etc. The rest of the squad is largely garbage. No one is going to buy Henderson Allen Skrtel Mignolet. They are average players but it is Rodger system that allows them to flourish. His midifeld do not have to play, they only have to destroy and play it forward immediately. The defense only has to defend and then go long. It requires little talent apart from mindless runners in midfield a few creative sparks and good strikers (the one ingredient they've been missing this season).
So i don't see their squad being ripped apart any time soon. the best hope is Rodgers goes because then if any manager tried to get that lot playing football through midfield they'd be shown up for how average they are.
