But they do that every year.
It reached unbearable levels though, it was like them and the media had decided that they'd won it and that was that. Thank god I wasn't alive when they won the league every year...

Lets face it: the reality is that Liverpool are nothing now...not a major player at home or abroad. They'll therefore seek to exploit any event that can get them publicity...and they have plenty of friends in the media who'll accommodate them in doing that.
Imagine Chelsea having to do this with John Terry, or a few years ago Arsenal with Tony Adams...even Giggs, a true winner and legend, didn't get this level of recognition and frenzy from United/the media.
This all just underlines how far Liverpool have fallen - emphasises their weakness rather than strength.

With Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard set to play his last game at Anfield this weekend, Madame Tussauds Blackpool have marked the occasion by taking a statue of the club icon on a tour of the city.
The 34 year-old is set to join LA Galaxy this summer after 17 years playing in front of the Kop.
The statue, which perfectly captures Gerrard's trademark sullen disposition, was whisked across Liverpool stopping off at landmarks including the Liver Buildings, the Mersey and Anfield before a farewell at the John Lennon Airport.
Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool said: “It will be sad to see Steven head to America, he is a true sporting legend, standing pride of place in our attraction. We wish him all the best at L.A Galaxy. He will always be a well loved part of our attraction.”

Indeed. The parody surrounding everything LFC makes it hard to determine what is real and what is notThe wistful hand wave and "Danny Ings" are definite giveaways. To be fair, I can't think of any other team where it would even be a question if it was a joke or not.

He's not mateLads, he's taking the piss.
Crepuscular Kopites lolThey could re-make a low intellect dvd box set of The Twilight Zone based on them.

He is, buddy.
she will be straight done muscle beach, getting rattled off the hanging bars on match dayI bet he does the emotion broken-voiced mic on the pitch routine after the game..."I didn't wanna like...but felt I owed it to the fans whove been different class with me ....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz". I don't know why Carragher felt he had to publicly tell him that he shouldn't start crying on the pitch...hes crying all the way to the bank with his LA deal anyway. Having said that, I bet the fees will be astronomical for the interpreter his missus will need by her side for the Yanks to understand her...."say again, honey ?" "Wha the f***s 'ee sayin', Ste ? "
