ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The apologists are falling over themselves on Talksport still.

Richard Keys is desperate for him not to be labelled as a racist.

Of course it's unacceptable and it's a sad person that uses such language as an insult. It's the mass over-reaction that gets me. You could get a thug come out on Saturday and break a players leg and only get three games, yet a silly throw away remark gets 8. It's madness. These are words, nothing more.

I mean who in this day and age gives a **** what colour people are? You don't see these kind of ructions amongst Asian folks. I mean just remind yourself of all the **** posted on Twitter when Li Tie did the FA Cup draw. As far as I can tell there wasn't really a big song and dance, people just accepted the knobheads for what they were and pitied them rather than got angry with them. Would it have been the same if the slurs were because someone was black? I reckon not.

Just seems to be a massive chip on some shoulders. Lots of non-white races have done, and continue to do incredibly well in Britain. That in itself suggests racism is far from a big issue. That there are so many non-white players in the British game suggests it certainly isn't a problem in football. I know people are revelling in Liverpool baiting but lets get real here.

I dare say this case hasn't gone to an actual court of law because it wouldn't hold any water at all and the judge would bang both their heads together and tell them to grow up and stop wasting his time. It's just a pity that such a non-event has been blown up into something so obsurdly massive.

To be honest, its just a tabloid wet dream and most fans are playing on it to wind the RS up.

Suarez isn't a full blown Nazi racist but you can't run about in any walk of life calling on a persons colour to wind said person up. I've said before if I ran a pitch on a Sunday calling a lad 'little black' Id get lamped, and id lamp him if he called me 'little white'

Seriously? You'd get wound up if someone called you a 'little white'? Maybe that's half the problem here, that people are just so angry these days. Whether it's the media fanning the flames and trying to create uproar over every issue or not I don't know. Maybe folks take their lead from all the grumpy as heck soap operas we have here. Seriously, chill out. You don't need to lamp someone over anything, least of all someone calling you names. Sense of perspective and all that.

I mean why does Evra care? He clearly doesn't like Suarez so why would he give a toss what he says? If he makes a remark about your skin colour laugh at him and walk away. All this fuss just makes him look massively insecure.

Wesley Williams on Twitter: "The Suarez racism charges needed a diplomatic solution not a sledgehammer. The FA may have ruined a player's career and more #bbcsportsday"

Would ya? I'd just laugh at them. That's what I think is the difference. I do think minorities do overreact sometimes. Like if one knob'eds saying something to ya just rise above it ffs. I work with a lad and he said whenever he gets called a p*ki he just goes 'No I'm Kashmiri ya dumb ****'. If it's more of a group situation, like whole sections of the crowd or whatever then it's more serious. This isn't to say that a single perpetraitor shouldn't be punished of course. There's no place for it.

Amit Majithia on Twitter: "Release the evidence used in the trial and maybe us LFC fans will understand the decision, but for now it is injustice! #bbcsportsday"

Doorey Saloojee on Twitter: "Well done to the FA, setting an example for world football, have no idea why people are having sympathy with a guilty man #bbcsportsday"

Alex Kiratzi on Twitter: "Unbelievable from the FA. No hard evidence about Suarez. For Terry there are witnesses. The question is, will the FA be biased? #bbcsportsday"

8 games and £40k is fair for racist comments.

If they beleived he was a racist and a major problem the punishment would have been much worse.

People showing support for him is just incredible.

Bit contrived that list tbh. Some of it obviously stands out but most of it is pretty average behaviour for a young (tittish) footballer, of which there are many. Don't get me wrong though he is a complete t**t.

I meant in context of if he would lamp me for saying stuff like that, a extreme example of a very likely outcome in saying things like that to get a rise out of someone.

Truthfully though, Id go through him in a way that is hurt him but in a way where id get away with it .

Sunday league is tough mate, I've seen people try leg breakers with little prevacation

Bored with all this now, Guilty.... Banned.

You turn on the radio and all you get is idiots like Keys saying that he has been found guilty of misconduct and not racism.
People not prepared to accept the decision and punishment.

Talksport has been unbelievable this morning, every presenter has been trying to outdo the rest in giving wild excuses to assure the listeners that Suarez isn't racist.

Luis, the Rednose Kopite
had a very mouthy gob.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it bites.

All of the other players
used to laugh - he'd call them names.
They'll never let poor Luis
join in any Christmas games.

Then one foggy Christmas week
The FA came to say:
"Luis with your gob so wide,
You won't play in Red tonight!"

Then how the Redsh1te loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Luis, the Rednose Kopite
you'll go down in history!
