ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Sign of a good team, one that grinds out results week after week. I remember that United team who played crap but just always won. It's a trait Everton have desperately needed to find for years now

I wish they'd stop singing The Fields of Athenry given their history n founder. I hate them more than I like other things. Scumbags
Agreed. I used to quite like that tune.
The rs just can't help but taking nice things and mauling them until they're grubby.

Get in the bin already
What's Koeman done? Led us to victories over mediocre and rubbish outfits but been largely clueless against anything decent we come up against.

Has he stabilised the organisation after the cowards downed tools last season? Yes, emphatically so. Has he done anything of note? No, emphatically no.

We're back to the Moyes era with a bang.

Lets put the hatred aside for one moment, we think Koeman has done well getting Europa football with a team arguably better than Liverpools. Yet if this is true then klopp deserves credit for getting an 'inferior team' into the UCL.

Hurts me to say that because I like them no more or less than the next football fan.

All we can do is focus on ourselves, we have stopped the rot, something I craved 12 months ago. Now Koeman has kept his end of the bargain, its upto the board/owner to finance theirs.

After the Martinez era getting back to the Moyes era is a great start. Ronald had nothing to build on since he was left with a total mess, this season was about stabilising Everton and laying his own foundations, he has done that.
In away this is what Klopp has done, first step get the team back in Europe, he did that, so have we.

In a weekend where everything went wrong for us.... Everything went right for them.

All their CL rivals slip up, we lose and after the player they regularly slate, scores a absolute worldy, and the opposition smash the crosssbar in the last minute.

In the race for Titles, CL Places or even Europe, you need a bit of luck, and my god did they get that this weekend. That start to the season, we've ridiculed them for (Won the league etc...), has probably plumped them a good £100m extra dough. Lets hope their attention is on CL football next season and we can capitalise.

We want luck, sadly we need to pay for it.

Every single 'lucky' club is the ones with the money. Even them lot are worth much more than we are business wise that they can afford to spend a bit on luck rather than on the pitch.

I imagine these shops are going to be busy............

Left a total mess. He was left the best goal scorer in the country. That's not a bad thing to have bequeathed to you.

As said, he's done well getting the stability back into the team. But he's bang average as a manger and certainly not the superstar his boss describes him as.

Klopp on the other hand IS a superstar manager, for want of a better term. He;s actually had a weaker squad than Koeman has had to work with (and certainly Mourinho and Guardiola have had to work with) and he's got - somehow - 69 points out of those turkeys so far to place them in the driving seat for 3rd or 4th.

He's plaited sawdust there. They'd be lucky to be 8th if Rodgers was still manager.

I agree they will finish 4th simply because Utd are decimated by injuries and City are too inconsistent.

But my god. They are bang average. Annoying though CL qualification for them will be I firmly believe there is no way on earth they will make a dent in Europe unless someone basically buys them a new squad. They have no depth, maybe three genuinely good players and a manager who has gotten to the verge of CL qualification more from the lack of consistent competition than his own tactical flexibility.

They're not very good, I think we all agree. But a look at the table will tell you they're not bang average. If they are bang average, what does that say of our performance this season? They are on the verge of CL qualification from the lack of 'consistent competition'? Really? Would that be the same competition we compete in? With the same teams? Where we can only finish 7th, and people on here seem to be very happy with

I know this is going to read like an incredibly bitter post, but I do think the fixtures have worked perfectly for them this season, and they still don't look very good. Early season they played Arsenal when they had no players, and Chelsea before they figured out their formation, which gave them impetus. Once Europe was on a break they showed how moderate they are. Now the games that would have been tricky earlier in the season, away to Watford,West Brom and Stoke, those teams have nothing to play for.

The other side of playing the lower sides at the end is that they played all the big sides whilst they still had something to play for early on. Swings and roundabouts and all that.

The thing is.... everyone stood in awe, as Liverpool absolutely Gung Ho'd every game for the first three months of the season. The premier league is the weakest it's been for years, and well, when you attack the "big" teams, they crumble, and they went to the "big" teams early doors and went at them and it worked a treat.

They burnt out by the turn of January, but then, they'd done the hard part and whilst they've fell off (gladly!), it only took a half decent run to keep them in the CL mix, and they've favoured from United and City being hugely erratic, and Arsenal seemingly finally cracking.

I think what I'm trying to say is... proofs in the pudding for what a good start can do to your season, and a manager who can get the best out of his attacking options.

Sickens me to say it, but our short comings are where we go to your Stokes, Watfords and get stupid draws or defeats... they go there and attack and win.

If we can do that, we've got a great chance of pushing on next season, providing we improve the squad and maintain the excellent home form.
