Had to go to work just after lunch yesterday so I missed joe root's fantastic innings.seen the highlights though and those cover drives and back foot punches were world class.the situation is set up perfectly for stokes and butler to cause carnage this morning.this should be great viewing today

LOL LOL LOL.

Sorry now I've got that out of the way, I hope Stuart Broad has taken away from this series exactly the type of bowler he should aspire to be, when he pitches it up he truly is world class.

Just bat all tomorrow England, and the day after if you can. Mock the hell out of the arrogant sods. Never have I truly despised a cricketing team as much as I have the current Australians, even without Haddin in the team. I hope they have to get 20 overs out of Warner tomorrow.

england sort of ruined him for a couple of years - but he's utter class in my opinion, with a bit of confidence coming back with the bat as well. that's 4? ashes series winning spells he's produced in his career now.

ah damn, what a shame. was hoping he could make a double ton or something. cracking score on this green pitch. bell's the only one so far that wouldn't have been top scorer in the aussie innings. even lyth and wood would have top scored for them.

even when we got mashed 5 nil in oz, I felt broad kept bowling good spells, didn't quite get the rewards but he has been bowl well for a while, he needed to get rid off that 'enforcer' image and hit off stump, that's as others have said when he's at his best

said it all along when he was going through the slump. he doesn't bowl the short ball too well.

no your right, and he seemed to get stuck in that mode, I think the old england coach came out and called him their enforcer which didn't really help, I remember a spell in the home series against india, a few years ago, he bowled good lengths and was lethal, and has really kicked on since then, his average is pretty misleading, like anderson he had a slow start, and since he really came into his own he is probably more 25/26 than the 29/20 he currently has

was it glenn mcgrath who was saying aussies should drop starc for this test? some aussie said it and i was laughing my socks off.
Yeah a lot of talk about siddle replacing starc before the game.wood has hit great boundaries off Johnson this morning. Never a dull moment in test cricket these days

his batting average is a lot lower than it should be as well, he's got a good eye. mind you, 5th highest england wicket taker of all time and a test top score of 168

in fairness to mcgrath he was looking out of sorts, but has really found form, fair play to him. I think the aussies are really feeling ryan harris's absence, massively underrated, and very good in english conditions

5 for for starc - could get 9 by listening to the other end. i still don't know if johnson is any good. he has to have conditions in his favour to eb a threat. he can only bowl on fast bouncy wickets can't he?
