Europa League Football for Everton next season would be a bad thing.

Woah, hang on. Read the rest before you hit that reply.

Sure, it's 'boss' to watch Everton in Europe. The tours, the ale, the extra games - all good memories.

But I want Everton to win something, with the FA Cup/League Cup being the more likely or achieve something via the league that would give us foundation to kick on (Champions League money) and win something.

Both those chances are improved if we're not in the Europa.

Spurs had an extra 11 games this season. If we had those extra 11 games this season - with our squad, would we have been as close to 4th? I really can't see it.

Our neighbours rejected it (Sorry for the Daily Mail link) via the Fair Play route with blog fish citing effort on the league and it's fair to say they've been vindicated by that decision this season.

With question marks over Lukaku, Barry, Deulofeu and Traore, there's likely to be a lot of change this summer. We need to keep/replace those four and bring in another five or six;

Martinez: "When you're playing in Europe you need to have another six or seven and we will do that. It's not an issue."

... Mr Optimisic as always, but it is an issue when you opt for quantity over quality to satisfy Europa demands.

We barely have the squad to compete as, just look at our bench at the weekend. After a transitional season, we would be better off out of it and should focus on on the league and domestic cups.

Naturally, this post will receive record number of likes and bumped in May 2015 after we've won the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League...

I disagree with the above.

Europa means More Everton. More Everton means Happy Raleigh.

I see the concerns. I just don't buy the whole concept of swerving competitions due to squad size. Europa will be magnificent for us if we use it to play our youth and see where they are developmentally.

Just because we're in it doesn't mean we should play our first team.

Good place to find out if Baines can pull a Lahm. Good place for Duffy and Lundstram to maybe come through.

Remember, our bench is so bad because we have 9 (9!) first teamers out. I would hope that doesn't happen again. It's a larger number than any of the clubs that have been playing in Europe.

That is all well and good mate, but I love Everton, and if this means get to watch Everton on Thursdays, then I am all for it. Also, I think the negative effects are overblown, didn't affect us so bad last time, did it?

Also, if we are serious about ambition, then we have to build our co-efficient up, and this is a god way to do it. Also, a route into the CL, Fulham got to the final not so long ago, why can't we win the thing?

I want European nights, but if we miraclously fail to get there...theres positives to be found innit like you pointed out.

It's experience for players/management and fans, and if nothing else, it's extra games so we can write the League cup off to bring youngsters through

I want Everton to win something too... and why not the Europa? OK sounds a bit of a long shot but if we can strengthen well in the summer (big IF, I know) then what's from saying we can't make a decent push for it...

I want Europe, it's as simple as that. we will have some boss home and away games, and it would be good playing knock out football if we got that far.

I followed Everton all of Europe last time we were in it. Such a great atmosphere! Those who say there are to many games in the season, look at how Chelsea have done this year (bigger squad I know). I up for this.

Looking forward to this. Of course we're not there yet, but it would be one hell of a bottling if we lost our last two games whilst Spuds and United won all theirs!

Really want to see us snot FK Slazbourottenmingelar and SLK BrannFlakes before having a battling, nervy penalty shoot out with Benfica.

I see the point mate, but look at the season we reached the last 16 against Fiorentina and the fact it actually had no impact on our league position from the preceding season, think the following year we finished a place and 7 points higher

Teams that struggle with it tend to be ones that use it as an excuse prior to the struggles or pretend their 'bigger' than the competition, neither of which we will do.

I aslo don't believe it will effect the quality of targets we aim for, the numbers will be made up from giving players like Garbutt and Browning more time, possibly may mean we recruit one or two more squad players like Colback on frees and maybe another 1 or 2 loan players will be brought in specifically to help with the added workload.

think it's good for the finances - slighlty, good for the morale and mbitious players of the squad to be playing on the European stage, and think tis good for the profile of the club abroad and for attracting players, and think its a wonderful developmental tool in giving young players a added chance to impress.

Last but not least, it's another competition to potentially win, another route into the Champions League by winning it, and maybe the most important thing, it gives us the fans a chance to have some unique memories about seeing the blue play in unique atmospheres, and at the end of the day, for the majority of fans, those memories are what it's all about.

Without a doubt want us to be in it. How else are we meant to create history if we don't have hopes and dreams? Imagine us winning a Europa/Fa Cup double for instance. *jizzes*

Honestly lids I would love to see us in the Europa League.

It would be MUCH better imo if it transformed back into the old "Uefa Cup" format, but it's still a decent competition and one where where I think we have a good chance of doing well in it.

It allows us to watch more Everton. That's one bonus. Another bonus is that we potentially get to see the youth/fringe players show their worth at a good level. Playing decent european opposition is something we haven't had for a while, we're coming up to a level now where we need to be tested by teams outside of England. Especially with the style we now have, the thought of bossing teams from all over Europe is something very tasty indeed.

Incredible nights will come, I firmly believe that. There's no reason why we can't go all the way in this competition. Maybe the CL was a step too far for us this year, maybe we aren't quite ready for that yet. Europa will prepare us and the experienced gained from it will be vital.

Gotta walk before you can run, I'm looking forward to it.

It's just such a pain in the arse that the third placed teams from the Champions League group stages drop down as looking at the teams currently expected to be involved you'd say we would have a decent to good chance of getting to the semi finals.

Being in the Europa makes the Champions League group stage more interesting to us as we will be hoping the two best teams win their matches and get through rather than supporting the underdogs, not as interesting as being in it our selves obviously but you get my drift.
