European premier league bombshell.....

I think the Glazers are seriously concerned that they're absolutely rubbish and if they continue being absolutely rubbish they'll no longer be top of the tree financially.

BBC now

So RS and Red Mancs, then I can see Arsenal, Chelsea and Blue Mancs as the other three with Spurs missing out.

From a self interest POV worryingly there’s no mention of Scotland (namely Celtic) in the reports. Id love to be able to support them in this as they are a big club being stifled in their current surroundings. They’d be able to bring in much better quality that matches the huge support base.

Just more yakking for more cash. There's no way UEFA will let go of the CL and that is that.

I would agree, but here's a question. What can UEFA actually do? I don't know if there are any cards they can play, possibly something about international duty

This. Talk of a european ‘super league’ has been around for 15/20 years.

I'd love to see the authorities call their bluff though.

Redress the balance of power. No club is more important than any other - Nottingham Forest have won more European cups than Manchester City - football is cyclical and has relied for over a hundred years on a meritocracy; you get what you deserve.

Money flooding the game has ruined it and this is the net result - greed from the clubs who have benefited since 1992.

Just tell them to do one. Give them a straight choice - league football in England with continental qualification, or your own crap little 18 team bubble that nobody in their right mind would give a toss about after seeing Liverpool vs. Barcelona for the 20th time in 2 years.

It's not hard, just needs someone at the Premier League/FA with a set of balls.

They have the tournament until 2024 IIRC. They just refuse to play ball and this lot pipe down, as they seem to want to get going for 2022.

The worst part of this for me is that the greedy scumbags are doing this in the teeth of a world wide health crisis. They are a deplorable bunch of subhumans.

Those two have been happy to be millions in debt for decades without a care and continually spent beyond their means. Now covid has come along and their hemorrhaging money, they're desperate and looking at pathetic avenues to recoup all the money. Can't have it both ways, this is why they shouldn't have been able to spend so freely despite the debt.

Yeah - it's vile in terms of timing and I think if you looked under the hoods of some of these clubs, many would be shocked at exactly how much trouble they are in, but that crisis is probably the need for urgency (from their POV) now & why I think there might be a chance here.

If there is a total figure of $6b being bandied about, one suspects that they have those TV rights established as at least viable whether with Netflix, PPV etc. The timeless do seem very very aggressive and it's alarming that the story has been shared with such coordination.

If it succeeds it means UEFA have no governance over their own jurisdiction. I cant see them getting in that situation. Too powerful and well funded. They'll do what they're no doubt supposed to do: hand the elite euro clubs more cash. And if they do fail to keep the CL going it just means another mind numbing continental event takes it's place.

Plus ca change.
