European premier league bombshell.....

It's fairly simple. Tell them they are welcome to leave and join a new money league, but they have to leave the PL and aren't welcome back.

That is really the only negotiating position the PL can take. It hasn't seemed to grasp this. It's allowing people to take money and influence from them to grow a profile, which will ultimately be used to benefit a rival competitor. Any sane person would not allow this. They haven't grasped it yet though.

Possibly not as those clubs are still in their domestic leagues.

This league just replaces the Champions League with more investment and sponsorships.

The reason why they're eager to do it is that those clubs don't have to qualify for it, they're just in it.

There is only so much of a pie to go around. the European super league would eat into the premier league deal

It creates a multitude of problems. I agree. I don't think participation in this, and participation in a domestic league will really be viable.

They would end up having to have a squad for each. Funny part is realistically they could do that now, well most of them, maybe not the other lot as losing one player for a couple of months seems to be the worst thing to have ever happened.

So what happens when these 'super' clubs start finishing 9th and 10th in that league. Where is the next prestigious competition for the league winners?

Wont fans get bored of watching the same teams with no promotion and relegation etc.

Sounds exciting until you really think about it.

Hopefully they do p**s off

The way things are going it won't be long before the scruffs customers, those that may see themselves as local 'fans' break away from club FSG and start a Liverpool Athletic or the like.

The Premier League itself would become weaker because the tv companies would not pay as much money as there wouldn't be any games where there is qualification for Europe's top competition on tv, (a loss of many games with something still to play for.)
The loss of income would see less top players from other leagues coming over and this would also dilute the product.

This proposed closed shop is a disgusting idea.

Think that through though. If they are in both leagues, and say United win the PL, then they will be invited to play in the CL; the competitor of this FIFA thing.

If they turn down the invite, what is the point of even being in the PL in the first place?
