Ok lets look at stats from Lukaku's last season to this season.
2016 After 10 games we were in 6th with 15 goals for and 8 against.
Lukaku was the leading scorer with 7. Barkley had 2 and then no one else had more than 1.
If we were going to score it was either going to be from Lukaku or on a set piece.
This year we have scored 16 goals and have a lot better distribution of goals.
Sigurdsson has 5, Richarlison has 4, and then cent, Walcott and DCL all have 2.
We do rely on Sigurdsson a lot but its to be a creator not a finisher. He has created more chances than anyone else in the EPL this year and I would much rather have a balanced attack where I feel that goals can come from anywhere instead of hoping that Lukaku comes up with some magic.

He has a pre conceived dislike of the DOF role. He prefers an old fashioned manager to run the football side and a David Dein type Chairman or CEO to run the club. Which is fine, except for the fact that both are becoming more and more obsolete in the modern game.

As usual with Davek though it's his way or the highway. So he's going to be anti whatever Brands does. It's actually quite fun if you just sit on the side lines.

There's a world of them out there. Enquire and see if they'e available. Affordable. What, like Richarlison for near £50M?
 

The fact that some of you don't see this dude as anything but a wind up at this point is mind boggling.

We went into this year with HUGE holes at LB, CB, CM, LW, CF (maybe) and no depth whatsoever. Silva wants to attack with width and Brands stockpiled talent to do it. Plus, he got a TON of wasted space off the roster, albeit some temporarily. Tosun had a good second half and Brands bought Richarlsion knowing well he could play CF if needed. We are now a huge plus at LB, much improved at CB and our big signing hasn't even suited up, solid at CM, outstanding at LW, and the only area he didn't address was CF. We went from a PATHETIC offense to tied for 7th with 16 goals at this point. We are 11th at GAs, so I'm not sure why our offense is the greater concern.

At the very least we should have brought in an option for up front. The option we have now is: 1/ play two players out of position each game to make up for the fact we have no obvious goalscorer, or 2/ play Tosun or DCL, neither of whom are up to it.

We employ a DoF to go through that search. Of course, you must be right. In the whole of world football there was no players available or affordable.

How unfortunate.

I'll tell you why people are responding: they can see what an achilles heel not having a goalscorer is to our season.
