I think we will finish 5th. Im really hoping for 4th but the teams above look very strong especially city and the ****e.:( If we can be in 4th place after christmas i think we r a chance

I agree. Much as I like to see the RS lose the objective reality is that they are one of the great clubs and sickening as they are the financial doping is not as blatant as it is at Chelsea and Man. City.

It is great for football to have Everton back up about the top 6 playing School of Science football. It is great to have the Grand Old Club in in the mix.

English football needs Merseyside punching its weight and that is true whether you support the Blues the RS or neither.

For this season mate after what i witnessed today, spurs are done, theirs no way a new manager will be able to get that team gelled and playing well without a summer to sort what the ****s best to do with them all
 

Tbh, I'm just enjoying the ride. All I know is we're playing some really good stuff and scoring plenty of goals (even when we don't play as well, e.g. yesterday).

Do I think we'll win the league? No, of course I don't think that.

Do I think we'll finiish top 3? No.

But do I think we should be measuring ourselves against the very best teams and looking to keep pace, at least for the time being? Absobloodylutely.

We're only 4 points off the top. Yes, there are clearly stronger sides around us but I see no reason we shouldn't be looking to at least keep up with everyone, especially given our favourable fixtures over the festive period.
 
Liverpool showed today that they are not pretenders to top 4 ambitions. They are serious contenders. Spurs?...not so much. Man U have got near term fixtures that will see them close the gap with Arsenal. Everton HAS to keep accumulating 3 points
 
I wonder if there has ever been a situation in the first division/premier league, where teams sitting at 6 and seven had a NEGATIVE goal difference...remarkable to me
 
On the matter of winning the league, top 4 or whatever. I'm personally loving it me, not arsed what the teams above us do or don't do. Take each game as it comes and let's see if we can stay there or there about like a bad **** stain that no amount of vanish will get rid of. Though I must admit I started looking ahead to the next 3 games but ran into a wall to sort my head out. Boss being a Blue, nice one Boberto for giving me happy warm thoughts about Everton again.
 

Would love to finish above liverpool ofcourse, tbh i dont think we will they seem to be playing really well, they were getting points when suarez was banned, when sturridge is injured and also now that stevie g is out.

As long as we finish above moyes i will be chuffed as fook ..

if suarez gets injured though, even if gerrard and sturridge were back tomorrow, they wouldn't even be european contenders, we all know that won't happen likee. But it's too early to talk of this stuff. United buy 4 world class players, could be a different story. lukaku gets injured for the season, different story, spurs sack AVB and get a settled XI, different story.

let's not go too overboard with our ambitions now like :s
 
We should all stop thinking about other teams and just remember what Martinez has told the players. 71 points is what we'll need to get in the Champions League. A win at Swansea on Sunday and we're well on the way to that.

Liverpool are doing well mate, unlucky for them so are we and we ain't letting them out of our sights. Today was the first time they had to win to get back above us, fair play they did. Long way to go yet mate, I think 3rd and 4th are up for grabs this year. If I was a Kopite after all the money they have Spunked I would be demanding top 4. We are more realistic in what's possible so a little more relaxed which will only make them froth at the mouth even more. And if you don't believe me, go on the world footy thread and see the bells who came onto this forum within 30 seconds to gloat about their win today.
