"Everton can win the Premier League"

We should all stop thinking about other teams and just remember what Martinez has told the players. 71 points is what we'll need to get in the Champions League. A win at Swansea on Sunday and we're well on the way to that.

Amen brother. If we hit 71 and it aint good enough well that's just life and it will still be a beast of a points haul. If all the players are fit and available for next Sunday ( except the long term injuries ) I'm supremely confident of picking up a good 3 points against the Swans setting us up perfectly for Christmas.

Would love to finish above liverpool ofcourse, tbh i dont think we will they seem to be playing really well, they were getting points when suarez was banned, when sturridge is injured and also now that stevie g is out.

As long as we finish above moyes i will be chuffed as fook ..

I still don't understand this joyful elation at finishing above the RS or Moyes. Really I don't. It just reeks of bitterness and being a small time club. I'd hope we're better than that. The goal is top four and Europe.. if that happens but the team across the park finish above us, I'll hardly be arsed.

If you lived and worked amongst them you'd understand it a bit better. Anything whatsoever to pipe them down is a thing worth doing and that extends to finishing above our local rivals mate.

I can see what you're saying. Finishing above Liverpool in the last 2 seasons meant absolutely nothing to me. However, this year if we finish above them it'll likely mean we're in the top 4/5 so it would be great.

I just feel if we finish above them this season it will be great for the club as all i get is .. your just a selling club, you cant keep hold of your barkleys and your baines and pretty much anyone who shows any class.

Also if we finish above untd i feel that we can show's that you think that your going to a bigger club but doesnt mean you will get cl.. a bit like liverpool the other year.(suppose im just worried about losing our players again was gutted when rooney left)

Arsed about other teams. We'll just do our thing. Sexy togger with an edge of snide.

Yesterday was as big a performance and result as Arsenal or United in the week. Been years since we went to one of the so called big boys and went toe to toe at their place.

Similarly, how many years have we seen poor performances against sh*te like Fulham, Norwich, Stoke etc end in disappointing 1-1 draws? Second half yesterday, we were stinking, but not only ground out a win, we scored 3 goals in the process.

That is what teams need to do to win trophies.

Personally my need for finishing above them is a little bit down to my youth, when finishing above them meant we became Champions, finishing above anyone is nice, the higher up the table the better IMO, but it means more when you finish above your closet rivals, it gives you much needed ammo for the next season when they start claiming that "This Year is our Year", also would be nice to stick a nice big FU to Moyes.

Oh look, its Hibbo.

He's got a group of players, none of whom cost us more than £6m*, playing better than Spurs who spent about £120m in the Summer.

It's frightening to think what Roberto could do with an actual budget.

*McCarthy the exception

I agree with this. The Swansea game is going to be the acid test I think. We didn't play great against Fulham but won comfortably, but away games at mid table teams are what top 4 teams need to win. Swansea might think a draw is a good result and might look to hit us on the break, so we need a good start to the game and hopefully get a goal within the first 20.

Just concentrate on our own game and don't worry about other teams. As Bobby would say....just go out there and be ourselves

You know what I think finishing above them would mean we were top 3 this year. Personally I don't think it'll happen - they'll be pushing city and arsenal to the end this season. Though 4th is more than achievable for us

just quickly looking over the past tables im not sure if 71 points will do it .. not that im daring to question RM (bow) but theres been a few season where that wouldnt of got u CL

This year is tight, I reckon it would, but you need the goal difference.

We're currently 4 points clear of any Europa League place challenge and within 4 points of top. Hopefully we can be part of a breakaway.

Newcastle have Palace (a), Stoke (h), Arsenal (h) and West Brom (a). I think 8 points (DWDW)
Spurs have Southampton (a), West Brom (h), Stoke (h), United (a). Maybe 7 points (DWWL)
United have West Ham (h), Hull (a), Norwich (a), Spurs (h). It could be 8 points (WDDW)

We just have to approach every game with the intensity we showed vs arsenal and utd and the rs, we won't obviously but the key like saturday is to grind out a result when we have a dip or play badly, do that we will be up their or thereabouts come may
