"Everton can win the Premier League"

just quickly looking over the past tables im not sure if 71 points will do it .. not that im daring to question RM (bow) but theres been a few season where that wouldnt of got u CL

I looked at the past 13 seasons and there was only one year where a team got 71+ points and didn't get in the Champions League. Last year.

Both ours and the RS chances are being helped by not playing in Europe. Its keeping players fresh and mathematically reducing the possibility of injury to key players. My gut feeling is that we'll end outside the top 4 and the RS will be in it. I'd reverse that expectation if Suarez was to pick up a month or two's worth of injuries. He is so far ahead their top player (like Bales was at Spurs last season) that any loss would significantly impact on their points total. Every side has key players of course but at no other top club is there anyone anywhere near as crucial to its prospects. We fret about losing Lukaku, or McCarthy or Jagielka for any length of time but the size of any such loss would be far less for us.

Suarez is a more influential player to his team than any other player is to his in the entire league. He thinks about how to beat a GK not just blast it and hope (like we have tended to do in many one on ones). And sets up goals as well. I think he is nasty little ****bag as a person but probably the most valuable player in the EPL...80 million pounds (going by the Bale precedent).

On the BTE (Brendon Telfer Experience)this morning on Radio Sport, Brendan announced that Everton 'will probably only act as a spoiler' to the big guns and that the race is between City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd. I texted him and called him a knobhead...all I got back was a text from Radio Sport saying thank you for texting!!!???...lol

If Chelsea and Arsenal think they can surely we can.

- we passed Arsenal of the park at their own game in their backyard
- we tumped chelsea 1-0. Naismith la'

Yeah thats their stockstandard response haha genius reply for what you sent though. In all fairness to him he doesnt appear to have much of a clue around football and he's right if you go off past experiences that we won't be competing for top four and the title. In reality though we are up there for top 4

We'll do very well to get top 4. Any more injuries and we'll be struggling to keep current form going. Certainly without lukaku, Barkley or mirallas we would be in difficulties. If we can pick up a few wins over Christmas and recruit one or two good players in jan we might have a shout. Winning the title is crazy talk at the min. If we're second in April then maybe we can talk!

This is the points totals over the last decade for the teams who finished 4th

03/04: Liverpool - 60 points
04/05 - Everton - 61 points
05/06 - Arsenal - 67 points
06/07 - Arsenal - 68 points
07/08 - Liverpool - 76 points
08/09 - Arsenal - 72 points
09/10 - Spurs - 70 points
10/11 - Arsenal 68 points
11/12 - Spurs - 69 points
12/13 - Arsenal - 73 points

The average is 68.4 points, but the general trend has been towards a higher total

I think 71-72 is a reasonable guess

I think we're right in the mix for the CL places currently, a lot will depend on injuries/suspensions and how we strengthen next month

Think the title is just a bridge too far though. At some point Man City or Chelsea will put the sort of run together which is beyond us

Funny how the red ****es have piped up after their win . There good but there no better than us . They have games like hull where they loose and that's the difference compared to us. We draw a lot but atleast we pick up points . We are not title challengers but we are top 4 material the last few games will decide it IMO

Won't go down well this, but I'd say they're better

They've had a year under Rodgers (who, whilst cringeworthy, is a good manager) to adapt to his methods and they're reaping the rewards. They have bought well in the last 12 months and they have a truly world class player in Suarez who can win games by himself. We have a lot of good players, but we don't possess anyone with that sort of quality.

We might get CL football, but unless the wheels come off across Stanley Park, I think we may have to accept that they're going to get back into the champions league this season and may even end up putting together a decent title challenge if Arsenal, City and Chelsea don't get their act together

Hard to disagree with that analysis. Hopefully we can strengthen in January and start to dominate the weaker teams as they are doing, but I still wouldn't rule us out of the race.
