"Everton can win the Premier League"

Kopites would cry about Istanbul because they are ********s. Definitely agree though I can't even imagine what it would be like.

Istanbul my arse. Don't get me wrong, must have been unbelievable for them, but it's a knockout competition, and they got outplayed by Milan for 105 of the 120mins in that game... Milan absolutely went to sleep for 15mins.

We are the champions by Queen came on the radio in work today and I couldn't help but imagine belting it out after clinching the league after beating City. It's on.

As an arl git who remembers the 84/85 success, cant see too many parallels in this year, apart from an injection of determination and a "we won't get beat we're gonna win this" attitude. Kendall had been at the club as manager since '81 and by the time of the league cup match v Coventry losing 1-0 in '83 there were people calling for him to be sacked - then we get out of jail and win 2-1 going on to the final (ok we lost to the s...e) - even more famous was the Kevin Brock backpass to Heath after we had gone 1-0 behind. We won the replay 4-1 and of course won the cup. Thus was the confidence cemented in the team and the rest is history. I think that we can win the FA cup next year but I would be amazed if we won the Premier in RM's first season. Champions league should be our ambition but we need lady luck to shine on us given the size of our squad and the amount of money we have in comparison to our nearest competitors. However I can say that I am loving going to the match this season - and the times I felt like this have been a bit infrequent since the 80's success Viva Roberto!!

The oxford game was in the league cup run and was a massive turning point. Confidence grew in that team steadily through the cup runs. It became more than a cup side when brace well signed and formed an amazing CM partnership with Reid. Does that sound familiar???!!! There were other moments that added to self belief and rub of the green that turned autumn 83Kendall out into May 84 cup winners. Next season we grew in confidence and announced our arrival by beating Rs and Man U in a week plus progress in cup winners and league cup by winning away at OT. media still did not believe but we did!! Spring 85 we accelerated towards Nirvana. it is harder to do these days but this team is growing nicely.....

in regards to revenue, the problem is if everyone's revenue goes screaming up it will cause some serious inflation. everyone will be flush with cash... so I guess the answer is raid abroad for players.

and, in theory, debt can be wiped out.

can anyone explain why Fulham get so much -- only £1m less than us.

We're always going to have less money than others, so the key, as it always has been, it to be better at finding bargains. There are good players everywhere, and timing and being with the right club and manager has as much to do with success as ability.

What you must take into account is our terrible matchday revenue, our utterly terrible commercial deals and an ever increasing wage bill, coupled with accounting losses and debts that never seem to go away.

Never mind our debt that doesn't even appear in our accounts ie the outstanding money from Phillip Greens loan to Bill.

Im just saying, as response to making our draws into wins. I agree we are awesome, but 1 player of that type and i would believe we would win the pr.league this year.

Yeah, let's just win every game, ay? Never gonna happen...The Arsenal 'invincibles' drew 12 games.

When people are playing this fuzzball stuff, a draw can quite as easily become a defeat as it can a win. So, for all the guff about '3 draws is only the same as 1 win and 2 losses' - I prefer to think that points on the board are the only thing that matter. We've only lost one game and without the 7 points we have from draws, we'd now be in 9th place and 9 points behind Liverpool.

Liverpool have a World Class player in Suarez and City in Aguero....we have potential in Barkley...and borrowed potential in Lukaku.

We have something the others don't have....togetherness and a lower level of expectation amongst non- (albeit we have high expectations). On top of that we have Roberto Martinez. Something very exciting could happen.

We also have a TEAM. We've had 11 different goalscorers this season, more than any other team in the league. Goals throughout the side. We have the highest scoring defender in EUROPE in Coleman. We're not as reliant on one player as the other teams.

If Suarez gets injured, Liverpool are greatly hampered. City have strength in depth, but their achilles heel is their defence and their away form. Our defence is the best in the league with the least goals conceded out of anyone.

We have our own perfectly valid attributes as to why we at least stand a chance. We have the longest unbeaten record in the league this season, 10 games and counting.

We are in a good place and just need to kick on and keep winning games. Everything else will sort itself out.

We also have a very winnable streak of games in a row,
Sunderland (H), Southampton (H), Stoke (A) , Norwich (H) Wes Brom (A). Thats 15points right there if we win, giving us a good build up into February. If we can continue to keep it tight at the back and get some squad reinforcements in the window we should be half way there, and in CL places.

Southampton, stoke away and west brom away are all games which a not so straight forward. We really should be winning against Sunderland and Norwich seems to always piss me off and take points of us.
