Beşiktaş have agreed terms with Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner according to the Black Eagle's vice-president Ahmet Nur Çebi.
"Buttner is our primary transfer target," Çebi said.
"We have agreed terms with the player, everything has been sorted. Manchester United have informed us that they would be prepared for Buttner to join us on a one-year loan."
The latest developments follow Slaven Bilic hinting that the Eagle's were on the verge of signing a left-back.
"Regarding our efforts to strengthen at left-back, we are very close to completing a transfer," Bilic said speaking at the pre-game press conference ahead of the Eagle's return leg Europa League tie against Tromso.
"If the transfer goes ahead it will be great, we have been working on it for four weeks."
Bilic has made it his priority to bolster the defence for the 2013-14 league campaign.
Beşiktaş recently signed centre-back Franco Pedro as well as Serdar Kurtuluş however, lack depth at left-back following the injury of İsmail Köybaşı.
The Eagle's have been playing Ersan Gülüm at left-back but lack a replacement.
The 24-year-old joined United on a €4 million move from Vitesse last season. Buttner made five Premier League appearances over the 2012-13 league campaign and struggled to settle after suffering homesickness.
