Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

Some shoddy journalist said:
Today, Martinez denied in his morning press conference that Baines has asked him or the club to do a deal with United, but refused to elaborate on the issue any further. An Everton spokesman said that the club’s official position was no different to that of their manager.

So the only part of the story that has any substance or point of reference whatsoever, is the part that completely dispels the story?

They've not done very well here, have they?

The prevailing problem is that they continually make out that Martinez is lying, which is rather outrageous when you think about it.

Almost libellous really but they leave themselves just enough wiggle room to say it's speculation to avoid having to issue a retraction and apology.

Media **** stirring as usual I see. Not once has Baines even hinted that he wants to leave, so the media go full circle and proclaim he's desperate, unreal.

In terms of Moyes own attitude towards Baines and Fellaini - his view is along the lines of well I took the club for a ride, walked out because I felt like it, with no negative consequences, why shouldn't Baines and Fellaini - players whose development I was solely responsible for - be allowed the same right. I played Bill like a fiddle, how dare Everton now, after I've already successfully taken the piss out of them, try and get a high price for the two players - after all, I walked out for no/limited compensation.

Reckon there's much truth in that perhaps not as formulated because Moyes is as dull as dishwater but he'll be surprised Evertonians have taken umbrage after saving us variously from fire, tempest, the plague and generally turning water into wine according to the media.

I would wager even at this moment he reckons his return with utd will be that of the prodigal son returning.

They say ignorance is bliss and he really is one ignorant c..t.

38 million + buttner and fabio should be the deal. We could take this money and pick up mvilla and make a few smaller deals. But we'll go get a couple of players from wigan so we might as well keep fellaini and baines.

If Martines wants to sell Fellaini so late in the window to buy his own players, he wasn’t going to throw him in yesterday with a risk of an injury that will jeopardize everything

With 4 days remaining, price should be 50M for both

The Manc Mirror reckons we want £50m for the pair, £25m each.

It makes me laugh how these articles continually point out that Baines wants to join Utd, when it has been denied twice by Martinez, and there's never been any public statement by Baines, nor a transfer request made. Yet they try to say it enough times so that it becomes conventional wisdom.

Also, even if he did want to leave - so what? Suarez 'wanted to leave' Liverpool - the club said no, and he's still there. No-one's kicking up a fuss over that are they? They've just accepted it.

The Guardian is the only one I'd believe really.

The Guardian do things well consistently. Fact based reporting instead of ridiculous sensationalism. They're human affairs stuff are too far left-leaning obviously but they're very good with sport.

The Daily Mail, The Sun and The Mirror are consistently terrible. Very surprised at just how bad the Independent have been though as they're usually not too shabby.
