If you're going to write the manager and a season off after 3 games and some newspaper articles, then you deserve all the sarcasm you get.

Look he had arguably our best two players in there for those two PL games, tell me from what you have seen of those games and considering if F and B leave does that augur well for the rest of the season, I said in a post about him we should give him time and I going to do that but at the moment matters do not look great.

Others have now picked up on the comment that RM has no input, leaves it all to BK. So it is bye, bye to those players and bring in inferior quality, where is that going to get us.

They will only leave at the price that works for Everton now. We have turned down 36m allegedly, so for me the club are doing nothing wrong.

I think that we are obviously working on replacements as Martinez has said he has contingency plans.

We still have a lot of good players at the club and with this money we have a chance to add a few more.

At this stage of the window, the selling club will know we are desperate though, no doubt they will cream a few extra quid off us.

We could in principle have a deal agreed to sign McCarthy for 10 million, come Monday we finally have the money and they could turn around and say " Newcastle are interested now, want to offer us 12 million and by the way, did I tell you the story about how I broke my leg at Wembley?? "

Easily arranged, the agent could plant a few stories with the media to drum up more demand for him easy enough.

Its seem Martinez happy to keep these two and get Barry in. Seems he want a chance to see what he can do with Moyes team, Its seems Moyes doesn't want this and wants to make the job harder for Martinez, he cant have Martinez doing a better job then him, no wonder he wanted Stubbs/Weir/Neville to take over. Hope Kenwight does not give in.

But there has been no refute from Kenwright. When I look at Martinez' comments, it looks to me as if he hasn't been supported by Kenwright. He was quite bullish before, but now saying he wants nothing to do with it.

Perhaps when he was being signed up by BK, promises were made about funds and now RM has been told there are none apart from the few bob you have just had. Could be he told BK that he did not want those players sold but has no funds to address weaknesses in the squad. So he has washed his hands of it.

Spot on.martinez is a clever guy. He is sitting back and letting Moyes consistently say the wrong thing. Wasn't it Moyes who said he's in regular contact with Bill?
He could have made that up as well. I was never a fan of Moyes as a coach(well documented here and on Kipper previously!) but I now dislike him as a man. He's not being 'ruthless' he's being irresponsible and childish, and not exactly enhancing the reputation of his new club.

I'm abit worried about Martinez latest comments, especially this bit. "I have had enough of 'he said this, he said that'. This is a really sensitive situation because you're talking of a chairman and previous manager (Moyes) who had a relationship over 11 years. A lot of things have been said in public and I don't want to be part of that. I'm out of it. But I have never had any instruction that anything has changed. Don't know what to make of this

All he's saying is that he's not going to get drawn any further into a public slanging match with our previous manager, as it was all becoming a bit unseemly.

Which is exactly where we're at with United. We shouldn't be net losers out of this. If we are, it's been horrendously managed.
Thus far we've played it with a straight bat. The club have valued them where they should be and we are standing firm. Its good to see us not crumple at the first sign of cash.

That bit about the grass not always being greener seemed like a sort of last minute plea to the players to reconsider leaving. I definitely don't think he wants them to go.

Somehow I'm convincing myself we need to sell for us to progress. If we do get £40-£50m I think we'll be better off in the long run.

I can't help but think that at the first sign of a total that begins with a 4, we'll crumple like a cheap suit.

I hope I'm wrong.

Could be. Or could just be he's sick to the back teeth of every question the media ask him being about two players who allegedly want to leave, rather than about other footballing matters.

I think looking at this RM is being sidelined by BK and out manouvred by our EX, not being clever as such but backing away and not standing his ground.

I know but honestly, I know you are a big Fellaini fan , they probably arent worth much more than 45 all told. I will never understand why Moyes hasnt gone for Fellaini by himself, maybe he feels the need to have a bit of purchase in the dressing room.

Go back a few days and people were saying the same about a total beginning with a 3.

SO FAR we've handled this relatively well to be honest.

I agree mate & I hope we stand firm, for a whole host of reasons, not least because on a football level this will leave us significantly weaker, but it's starting to feel that it's got an air of inevitability about it....
