Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

No offence mate, but you come across as an atypical United fan - woefully naive about every player under the sun who doesn't play at Old Trafford or, at a stretch, Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Baines would improve your title chances drastically just through the attacking option he gives that Evra doesn't even come close to providing. Fellaini is a stunning player and would be an automatic starter in your midfield for a good eight years.

Your real issue is not the quality of the players; it's that both players play for "little old Everton".

Your best player over the last decade by a mile came from "little old Everton", perhaps you should remember that.

Hang on mate we won the league by 11 points last year you know?

But now we desperately need Baines? It's not me that's naive I'm being told on here that we're mid table!!

I offered my opinion on this potential deal, nothing more nothing less. No idea why people are getting offended by it

Hahahaha... OK I'm out.

How do we keep winning the league then mate?

Have you swallowed all the ****e that the press are currently printing about us being up for 4th or 5th this year?

I don't want to hijack this and turn it into a United thread but I'm astonished how many think so many of our players are no good.

Ferguson, in a word.

Because you have Moyes as your manager now, not Alex Ferguson. Sheer strength of will from the manager got you that title last year.

As you should know, to be a title winning side you need multiple ways to break down teams and attack. Nine out of ten games will not require you to have a left back who doesn't know how to attack. That's the difference between Baines and Evra - 60 minutes into a game and it's 0-0, you'll have a quality player who'll bust a gut to get the overlap and send in a deadly ball from the byline for van Persie to smash home.

What I'm getting annoyed by is the suggestion that we're overrating our players, rather than judging them on their merits. We slate our own if they're complete bollock awful, even those who are completely our own like Osman and Hibbert. We don't just say "YER EVRY EVERTONN PLAYA IS BOSS LAD".

Apparently Athletic Bilbao have confirmed that they have received a £30m bid from Man Utd for Ander Herrera. He's a midfielder, so this might mean they have given up on Fellaini.

EDIT: It was rejected as they demand £36m for him, which is his release clause.

Absolute nonsense. We have the best centre half pairing in the league by a million miles, Rafael is the best young defender in the country, Carrick is one of the best midfielders in the league, our keeper is the best young keeper in the world and when on form Nani is world class though he is extremely inconsistent.

It's not about United though

Thats quite funny. I'd fancy my chances at skinning Rafael; De Gea is a very good shot stopper, after seeing the Big Dane (if you are old enough) there is no comparison, we still compare keepers to Big Nev. And Carrick, come on. He's probably in the top 10 of English midfielders, for the entire PL??? Not even top 20. He's neat and tidy and thats it, he's a player you miss when he's not there but doesn't change games when he's playing.

Anyway, I like Evra; since the moment he signed I've always rated him as a top, top left back, one of the best a couple of years ago. Trust me, Baines pisses all over his chips.

Your team is better than the components in it with regards to the league, but in Europe its been exposed for what it is. You desperately need a midfielder and its possible that Moyes wants to shift the attacking focus on to raiding left and right backs and we just so happen to have one of the best and one he knows.

Rafael is destined for absolute greatness, maybe I'm beginning to understand how you can completely undervalue another teams player. I might be miles wrong about Baines because you certainly are about Rafael. And I'm actually on the floor typing this having read your assessment of Carrick, I just collapsed.

I'm more than old enough to remember the big dane, I remember Paddy Roach, De Gea has the potential to be up there with him by the time he finishes.

It's like Arsene Wenger said I suppose "we all think we have the prettiest wife at home" I still don't really get the outrage displayed by some and the negative rep comments but I'll survive.

Wouldn't be football if we all agreed.

Do me a favour mate.

You do have some world-class players in Vidic, Rooney and Van Persie, and some of your other lads are very, very good too. But Rafael, Carrick and Nani are not the best of anything - there's no bidding war for them, is there? Your best asset was Ferguson, and without him you need to bolster your squad because Moyes is simply not up to Ferguson's standard. If anyone knows that, we do.

We've needed a midfielder for five years, seriously, it was Fergusons blind spot and I'm not arguing that we don't need one.

I'm just slightly disappointed that it's going to be Fellaini, I don't disagree that he's better than what we've got, I said that right from the start but it seems to have been completely overlooked.

I can't see Moyes spending £36m on a player that is not a massive name already. But the problem is if they offered £28m for both players how can they with a straight face come back with a £25m or so bid for Fellaini alone. It will make them look stupid. He clearly wants Baines on the cheap too. I think it will remain a joint bid for that reason and I don't think they will go higher than £38m for the pair.

Harhurhey.
Things have changed enormously since last May.
Utd have lost the best manager in the premiership since...ever.
Chelsea have spent big and brought back Mourinho.
City have spent big and brought in a very impressive manager in Pellegrini.
Utd have brought in a manager from Everton,a club that you see would not see as competition for Utd and whose best players you consider as not good enough for your team.
The league s for the last two or three seasons have not been good,it has been a series of "the best of a bad lot" and this has generally been reflected by how English clubs seem to be falling behind in Europe.

You can keep on telling yourself that you are he best team around and will win the league again...but that doesn't earn you a single point.

I think Utd are heading for a period in the doldrums(relatively speaking) and it will take you a little while yet to realise that.

With regards to the bid made & subsequently publicly rejected by us. Having thought about it, I can't see us capitulating for only a touch more given that we've publicly knocked it back, if it was 'warm' then we'd be negotiating behind the scenes & there'd be no public knowledge of the knocking back of £36m, that says to me that maybe Kenwright is sticking to his guns here & is prepared to hold out for much nearer £50m that £40m.

RVP would have a field day with Baines giving him chance after chance, game after game.

He offers so much more than Evra and he's better in every single department. He is a very good defender, his chance creation numbers are insane, he is an all-round more skillful player on the ball, he is a brilliant set-piece and penalty taker, he loves a goal in open play, he is chilled and professional as hell, has sound taste in music and he is 2 or 3 years younger.

Let's not start under rating United's players now lads, they are the champions for a reason.

However, this is all salad dressing, Baines is the value he is, so if United want him they pay the going rate.
