Still laughing at the Carrick comments. It's amazing how he can't get near the England side for most of his career - such world class football luminaries such as Scott Parker and Gareth Barry deemed preferable by multiple England managers.

Hell, he couldn't even get on the standby list for Euro 2012.

But no, he's world class mate, honest...

And we overrate Baines

Brennan nailed it above - you have stunning players in key positions and average to good players overall, but you had the greatest of all time in charge who overachieved dramatically through his sheer will to go out on top.

You're basically praying for van Persie, Vidic and Rooney to stay fit this year or you're goosed.

Rafael is destined for absolute greatness, maybe I'm beginning to understand how you can completely undervalue another teams player. I might be miles wrong about Baines because you certainly are about Rafael. And I'm actually on the floor typing this having read your assessment of Carrick, I just collapsed.

Funnily enough, so did I when I read you think Carrick is one of the best midfielders in the Country

I'm more than old enough to remember the big dane, I remember Paddy Roach, De Gea has the potential to be up there with him by the time he finishes.

Never, in my 34 years of watching football I have seen 2 world class (head and shoulders above everyone else) goalkeepers play in England; one played for us and one for you. De Gea is nowhere near there level, and hasn't got the presence either. Time will tell though

We've needed a midfielder for five years, seriously, it was Fergusons blind spot and I'm not arguing that we don't need one.

I'm just slightly disappointed that it's going to be Fellaini, I don't disagree that he's better than what we've got, I said that right from the start but it seems to have been completely overlooked.
You may well now be disappointed, but I guarantee the lad will be a success if he is to go. Surrounding him with better players and you will see his worth. I'm starting to sound like a salesman but he is near unique in what he does, he is multi-faceted in that he can pass and move well, he can bring the ball down and play, he is a menace in the air, he is physically imposing and defends better than many give him credit for. His hair belies a very good player.

Absolute nonsense. We have the best centre half pairing in the league by a million miles, Rafael is the best young defender in the country, Carrick is one of the best midfielders in the league, our keeper is the best young keeper in the world and when on form Nani is world class though he is extremely inconsistent.

It's not about United though

Not so sure about Rafael myself but he has improved. I do rate Carrick though, think he is a very good player but to say Nani is world class, don't think so somehow! Honestly wouldn't have him at us

Harhurhey.
Things have changed enormously since last May.
Utd have lost the best manager in the premiership since...ever.
Chelsea have spent big and brought back Mourinho.
City have spent big and brought in a very impressive manager in Pellegrini.
Utd have brought in a manager from Everton,a club that you see would not see as competition for Utd and whose best players you consider as not good enough for your team.
The league s for the last two or three seasons have not been good,it has been a series of "the best of a bad lot" and this has generally been reflected by how English clubs seem to be falling behind in Europe.

You can keep on telling yourself that you are he best team around and will win the league again...but that doesn't earn you a single point.

I think Utd are heading for a period in the doldrums(relatively speaking) and it will take you a little while yet to realise that.

It won't even take me one second to realise that pal. If you read some of my other posts on here you'll see that I said "we're in an irreversible decline and it's just a question of how that's managed now" or words to that effect.

I still think t this current time as it's stands right now that we are the best team in the league. I'm not one bit impressed with City's summer business, that Fernandinho looks absolute average and massively overpriced, Negrado is the Spanish Darren Bent and the winger who's name I can't remember is notorious for getting homesick. I don't know why you think Pelligrini is very impressive either, he's won nothing in Europe.

Chelsea look very unbalanced to me, loads of great number 10 types but short on a bit of drive and good defenders. We'll win it again this year but that will probably be it for a while as the camel jockeys will just throw another 100 million at it and eventually they'll get it right

Do me a favour mate.

You do have some world-class players in Vidic, Rooney and Van Persie, and some of your other lads are very, very good too. But Rafael, Carrick and Nani are not the best of anything - there's no bidding war for them, is there? Your best asset was Ferguson, and without him you need to bolster your squad because Moyes is simply not up to Ferguson's standard. If anyone knows that, we do.

For a player to be good he needs to be involved in a bidding war? some serious bs being talked about there

Using England and the way we play as a barometer of greatness  Paul Scholes couldn't get a game in his best position either

Spoy on Tubey. Every word.

If Hargreaves had stayed fit, Carrick would have been sold years ago.

Getting into the England team proves your a good player? oh please. He has blossomed into a fantastic player in his late thirties he hasn't always been this good. He's literally kept our midfield from being above average for the last two years but hey if a Belguim who can barely control a football and just elbows and fouls people and is just physical you rate him higher that what do I know?

Because so many teams are fighting to get Fellaini of likkle everton right? 23m ****ing having a laugh. theres a reason no on wants him aaprt from desperate moyes who has ****ed up our window

Shows how much you know. Hargo was average in midfield for us. He was so average to accomodate him we played him right wing and right back.

Not as a barometer of greatness; you used the description "one of the best in England" - so I just used caps as a token of how he isn't the greatest thing since sliced Gerrard you seem to think he is.

He's been a "good" player his entire career, but calling him one of the best is ridiculous. He's "good", in the same way Gareth Barry and Scott Parker are "good". They're all in the same bracket.
