agreed. the cog of the machine, irreplacable. Very excited to seeing him in action under roberto's philosophy

35M and hoping the players force the issue.

I'm in the minority, would prefer Felli stay over Baines.

Both of them for 35million? That still strikes me as low. 40 mill and the club can consider it in my opinion.

The fact is Baines and Felliani would need to be replace by two players each, at least. Baines is a top attacker and a top defender, we're going need a back LB and then a creative player (probably CM/winger). With Felliani, we would be losing a top DM and ACM with an unique skill set, we would need a couple CMs.

I'm struggling to think of players that could replace them single handily. Maybe Ljajic as a creative winger/striker for Baines (but where is the defensive aspect?) and McCarthy for Felliani (also what about the attacking aspect?)

Its not going to be easy to replace either of these players, imo 35 million is just below the bare minimum.

As far as i'm concerned 40M is low. The reality is we would struggle to replace them even if we had the whole transfer window, let alone 10 days.

Given we have only 4 genuine midfielders at the club (Gibson, Osman, Fellaini and Barkely), shocking, if we lose Felli now it would be an absolute catastrophe.

If this must come to pass, then I'm hoping another club gets in on this act. In that case, it puts paid to United's strategy and maximises Everton's opportunity to profit from the incident.

One more loss will have Arsenal trying to spend like a Viagra addict in a brothel. They may never show up at our door. But United doesn't have to know that. All they will know is that Arsene is on a panic-buying binge. A desperate Arsenal increases the going market for quality players across the board.

Exactly. God thing is, Roberto doesn't look like he is panicking.

If I was Felli I'd be thinking to myself that United don't even rate me, first of all he is basically a last resort plus they're only willing to pay 16m, doesn't exactly reak of them trying their hardest to bring him in does it.

They've had all summer at 23m to bid for him but they haven't been arsed as they had other targets.

He's loved here, still young and well paid so why should he go to United and feel second rate?

Yeah I agree. Especially since Moyes is now at Man Utd, you would think if he rated Felli so highly he would've been signed months ago. If say Chelsea or Arsenal did come in for Felli as well as Man Utd, I wouldn't be surprised to see him choose London over Manchester. I guess we should add Tottenham to the mix as well!

44 mil is probably a fair valuation, however it would take more for us to make it good deal, as it takes more money than that for us to attract top talent like Baines/Fellaini than a top four team. Also, I don't really know what Martinez can do in the transfer window yet, just a mere window into his Everton transfer history. It'd be embarrassing to give him all of that money just to see him waste it. There's just a lot of variables that could make a deal very good, or very bad.

I just don't see either of them leaving at this late stage, especially Baines.

35M is still too low for both and I agree the the ballpark range needs to be between 40-45M to be seriously considered.

Even then, I wouldn't sell. Just too much risk at this point and as Essex Blue rightly said earlier, spending the money is also another big risk that we don't need right now, especially at the end of the window.

On a side note, I loved that the Daily Mail had a piece on how Moyes is doing the very thing that he accused City of in the whole Lescott affair. We can't control who bids for our players and we can't control how much they bid for them but we CAN control whether we sell or not. And right now, I don't see us selling either one of them because lets be honest. If we want to try and break into the top four, we're gonna need both Baines and Fellaini for the full season.

And Bill beats me to it XD
