If £28m was an insult, I hope if they come back with £35m we reject it again. £7m isn't enough to go from "insult" to acceptable offer. £40m and no lower Bill ffs.

United are going for the pair as a joint bid because the Baines move is a tough nut to crack on its own, but they know we want Fellaini shifted for players in and see welding both players to the same process as the nutcracker. If Arsenal came in now for MF it'd **** them right up.

I'd be amazed if we get anywhere near a £45m for the two.


The biggest problem in these negotiations is that Baines and Fellaini are worth a lot more to us than their actual market value. Just look at how Baines is at the fulcrum of our play, but when it's all said and done he's a 28 year old left back, you're not going to find many teams who think it's worth paying £20m for that type of player.

How is that a problem in the negotiations for us? What Baines and Fellaini are worth actual market value is a complete irrelevance. We should be asking for what they are worth to us. Same as southampton have no need to sell Shaw so can ask whatever they like.

I heard 16m for Eriksen and Alderweireld - absolute bargain. Tbh United offer 25m for Fellaini I'd happily accept us signing those two and having Kenwright pocket the difference.

I guess it's more of a guess than anything. I just got that feeling from quotes and general behavior that we want to keep our best players if possible.
