"We don't care what the redsh!te say...."

Can't believe any 'supporters' care so much about Liverpool winning the league that they would potentially sacrifice us getting in the Champions League - it's the absolute definition of bitterness

It's Everton all the way for me, Liverpool do not register on my priorities
So why bring up "bitter"? it's an RS invention.

Didn't say you wasn't, just said it was a factor. Your focus is 100% Everton and you obviously don't care about across the park, and I understand that. But that isn't the case for me, and I don't see why that is such a hard opinion to understand.

I don't think this is a black and white thing Tubey.

Personally I always feel bad when we lose and if we lost to Citeh and missed out on a CL place because of that I'd be gutted. If that meant L'pool missed out on winning the league it'd lessen the pain a bit but not enough to make it worthwhile.

But if we had a guaranteed Europa or Champions League spot, couldn't do any better, and losing to Citeh made no difference to how we'd finish then I'd feel differently. It's not really about how much anyone loves Everton, it's more about how much people hate Liverpool. Hate's a bad thing in life though, even when it's aimed at that lot.

Pretty much this really. Again, levels.

I cried myself to sleep the night they won the Champions League
- Everton finishing in a half-decent position in the league meant very little in comparison.

Someone saying they'd hand Gerrard the cup if it meant 4th for us is quite frankly incomprehensible to me - I'd genuinely rather lob off my own hands than give him a cup with them - but I can understand the logic if Everton is 100% the focus.

But for me I'm not afraid to admit the local rivalry has a massive bearing on my overall emotions as a football fan. I wouldn't be quite the same Evertonian if I didn't care about the other lot. They're the other half of the circle to me and part of the ups and downs of the whole thing.
Oh my ****ing god.

So you weren't arsed in the slightest, as an Evertonian, when they won the Champions League in 2005? Genuine question, just interested to hear the answer.

Badly phrased mate, never meant it to be, just a figure of speech. But the way people are phrasing things in this thread you'd think the success and failure of Liverpool are about as important as those of Stevenage for some, which if true is fair enough but I've got to admit I don't understand it myself.

Without opinions, blogs like this would wither and die very quickly. In life, right and wrong/black and white does exist....but the predominant colours are various shades of grey (at least 50 according to that smutty novel lol)

It'd be awful having to put up with that lot if they won the league again. Their melt levels would reach new dimensions of cringeyness.. But I can't overlook the fact that finishing 4th would potentially be worth about £30 million to MY CLUB, increase our global profile and allow us to sign a different calibre of player.

Even if we're bottom seeds, there'll be teams far worse than us in there. Worst I think we'd do is finish 3rd in our group and drop into the Europa knockout stages.

Koff...we're winning the whole thing like

lol

Like it's incomprehensible and I was the only one! Give over!
It is incomprehensible to me that Liverpools success made you weep. You actually cried that they won something? [Poor language removed] me. I hate them, I really do, but you shouldn't ever let your hatred eclipse how you feel about Everton.
But crying about them winning? You know how utterly ridiculous that sounds?

Fair point mate and I understand your view.
I was a bit old for crying myself to sleep when they won the CL but it wasn't a good time.

Hopefully we'll see a time in the near future when the blue side of the city starts winning silverware again and these sorts of "arguments" become a thing of the past.

Again if we win the play off.

And god knows if Martinez will see any of that 30 million.

It doesn't eclipse it; it's a necessary part of it.

I was so convinced they'd win I didn't even watch.

Even then when the news come on the fellas first words were about Milan scoring 3 which temporarily filled me with glee only for the next sentences to confirm the devil was alive and well.

Switched the telly off never bought a newspaper or watched the news or sports programs for about 10 days and I've never seen the highlights. I live in Herefordshire and apparently Kopites and Utd fans had a full scale ruck in one of the locals that night - the RS winning stuff is heathen.
